Canadian Tire has this impact on for 50% off. Anybody had any experience with it? It looks like a good deal. WOOHOO It looks like there is a $30 MIR available as well!! That seals the deal, for $100CAD and a five year warranty I think this is a great deal.

Great deal on an cordless impact

I honestly don't know. i have never checked into replacement batteries for their own house brand stuff. I will do that tonight when I go to have a look at it. It might be a better deal to buy two and keep the spare for batteries.

that's nearly 50% off ... don't think you'll see a better deal on it any time soon

Sure you will.. their stuff goes on 50% off every week. Thats how canadian tire has grown so fast. Regular prices are actually a bit on the high side, but the sales are great!

As for battery cost, they are about the same as DIY type brands. About the same as B&D AFAIK. Maybe a bit more than ryobi. If they ever stop carrying the batteries, you can always just send them out to get rebuilt for around 35 dollars.

As far as quality goes, it's quite good. I have a strong suspicion that this stuff is made by TTI. Why? The older mastercraft planer is identical to a ryobi planer sold in the UK and AUS. The circular saw looks alot like Triton that is also made by TTI. The router has some features found on the ridgid kit. And finally, the sawzall is a little too beefy to be made by some random chinese sweatshop.

I picked two of them up tonight along with the CT impact socket set that somebody posted on here a while back. They both look to be of good quality.

As for the batteries, they sell for just under $50 but the guy at the store claims they have never sold any. He claims the only have them for warranty returns. I don't know if that is good or bad??

That's a ZNEX impact, by my guess, or something very similar. Google it, or check eBay - they're listed there sometimes. Cheaper asian-made tool... but apparently they've held up well.

Cornwell just started re-badging them, so they think a lot of them, apparently. Our Cornwell guy used to sell a bunch of 'em that he'd buy off of wholesalers. He claimed all of the customers that had them were happy, but he sells stuff for a living, so... ;)

It means that people who use these things are just DIY home users. Nobody buys black & decker batteries either. 10 years down the road they just toss the tool

Yup, that's what it looks like out of the box. It's made in China as well. We'll see how it holds up on the trail and in the shop, the reason I bought two... It should be a good addition to the Cruiser.

All the autox guys around here use them. Mine will easily undo the wheel nuts on the Honda (80ft/lbs) and will undo the ones on the Porsche with a fairly fresh charge (96ft/lbs). Typically I can do around 3 or 4 track days on a battery.

I have that exact one, got it for $150...$120 is the lowest they have ever gone.

I have been abusing mine daily in a race shop for a few years now. Dropped it plenty of times, used it for hours on end, and it's never failed me. Both batteries and the charger still work perfectly. The batteries last for days. It's powerful enough to do anything I've ever tried to do. Light and nice to use. Comes in a nice case. I'd say go for it.
