A buddy has a Cub Cadet riding mower with a 22hp Kohler. I'm honestly not familiar with Kohlers but I'm trying to at least get him info to tackle cleaning the carb. I looked on YouTube and I seen 1 vid on the exact subject, but it was a 1/2 assed attempt at cleaning the carb. I'm looking for a complete break down of the carb to use those little torch cleaners or wire drill bits and a can of carb cleaner to go through all the jets and little tubes all through the carb body to get a perfect clean.

Where would I find such a thing? Maybe I overlooked something in my search... it's been a stressful weekend in my defense lol.

Thanks Again Y'all!

TL,
I let my Cub Cadet snowthrower sit way too many years and the carb got gummed up pretty bad. I was going to rebuild it but when I went to the local Cub Cadet dealer to get the rebuild kit a new carb was only a little bit more than the kit :( I just got the new carb and was done with it. I have the old one and might take it apart and clean it and put it on the shelf.

That being said.... see if you can find someone with a medium size ultrasonic cleaner. I have one at my shop and that is what I have been using on carburetors. Does a great job. On yours all you probably need to do is get a can of good carb cleaner and spray though all of the passages. I dont like running any type of cleaning wires through carburetor jets and passages. Its too easy to mess up the calibration and have it run worse than it did before. Torch cleaners and drill bits do not belong anywhere near a carburetor.

Sure if your not careful. You can use them with care and clean them fine. You can "feel" when using them when you get through the crud and hit bare brass. Done it for 20 years with no problem, never had to replace a jet EVER.

I too never buy new jets, have no ultrasonic cleaner, I do not use any drill bits or torch cleaners just fine wires nothing that would change the jet size ! Very clogged jets hold them with needle nose pliers and hit them with a propane torch and You can watch the **** ooze out of the jet ! Works for Me and has for Years !

It's a 4 stroke small engine carb..there essentially all the same. A bowl, float, main and idle jet. Blow cleaner through all and compressed air. if it's still acting up spend $30 on a new chinese carb.

HAHAHA! Ya right! Good luck finding a new carb for a v-twin Kohler engine for $30.
