Still thinking about doing what the architect originally drew--he had stone insets under each of the large windows.
I was planning on replacing sliders with windows in the bedrooms (energy reasons), and thought it might be cool to do cultured stone under the windows.
The siding is vertical reverse board and batten (~2"), and I'm assuming that lath plus scratch coat and stone would be fairly close to flush--Eldorado says 2.5-3" for assembly.
Would it make sense to reframe the wall sections with 2x6, windows mounted flush, and frame the sections below the sills with 2x4 to give the stone more of a 'set in' appearance?
I've been looking at a few youtube videos and manufacturers' web sites, and haven't found a detail like I'm imagining. And if I did it this way, would you need to flash the edges of the panels--maybe with a custom 'Z' flash from inset to main plane?
