share my interests.I just bought a vintage circular saw;a Cummins 6"
worm drive model. It's a model 600 according to the name plate. From researching
Google, this saw was first introduced in 1949.It's in excellent condition. My problem is deciding what kind of lubricant to use for the gear box.The name plate plate says to use balansaw lubricant, but nothing showed up on Google.Any
one have ideas for the best lubricant to use in this old saw and should I consider cleaning out the gear box before adding fresh lubricant. This thing has an aluminum alloy housing with ball and roller bearings;built like a tank.I would hate to mess up the worm drive by using the wrong lubricant.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Ron
