Here's my garage. I've never posted much about it and wish I had taken more progress pics. It is a simple 2 car garage, attached that is 20'x22'. It started as a very average garage of this type. Thank you all for the inspiration. I love some of the garages I've seen here. All this influence here made what was going to be a relatively simple garage removal turn into building a full blown small shop.

This has been a year and a half project. Mostly because of my delay of a about 10 months. I had a baby born and often work weekends in addition to 40-50 hour weeks and just got burned out for a period of time. For the last few months I tore back into it, made massive progress and am finally nearing the end stages of this project. Hence the reason for the name. I'll come up with something better later.

Some specs and list of modifications is in order I guess.
To date I have:
•Relocated water heater to a closet outside (need as much space in this garage as possible
•added a window (allows more light, let's me watch my older kid riding on the sidewalk and gives view to outside world while working at my bench).
•replaced the old man door that was in aweful condition.
•re plumbed drain and feed lines to washer/dryer, that allowed me to add a large wash tub just around corner and next to the man door.
•reframed ceiling. It was just a couple of wall ties that were heavily sagging due to previous owner placing heavy loads on plywood in the attic. I built a heavy framed ceiling with beams and ladder access to allow for proper attic storage. I can finally get Christmas stuff and other junk out of the garage.
•pulled in 100amp subpanel from service panel to feed the garage. I have 110v installed 4' on center, multiple dedicated 220v circuits for my welders, plasma cutter, and planning for future lathe and small mill. Additionally there are a ton of switched outlets in the ceiling that will allow for lots of flexibility in my lighting layout. In total I have 26 4' t-8 5100k fluorescents on 4 switches for different levels of lighting and task lighting. During this I added 4 outdoor receptacles, 1 dedicated for plugging in the toy hauler, multiple outdoor lighting that feeds both sides of the house so I can actually see when I go outside when it's dark.
•plumbed in 3/4" copper air lines from my outside air compressor closet. In total I have 4 drops in the garage. 1 in ceiling and 3 at the walls.
•5/8" drywall on all walls with a double layer against the shared house firewall.
•liftmaster 8500, most amazing door opener ever!!!!
•built some melamine cabinets for around washer/dryer and tried to add as much storage space as possible around the garage.

Things to do:
•epoxy floor goes in this Monday. So excited for this!
•install metal paneling on lower half of walls. That's why the paint stops where it does. Haven't decided if I'm going to place corrugated steel, regular galvanized sheet metal or something else....any ideas??? I thought about galvinzed sheets riveted together. (Give it an airplane feel, I fly small single engined aircraft and would appreciate the little touch).
•touch up paint where I had to open up a hole to replace the 6/3 NM that somehow got damaged during install. I was really sad about having to replace 50' of cable but it had to be done. Can't leave a 220v circuit with a hot leg to ground short. I don't know what happened but it's done now. Just need to finish up the patching.
•organize the mess of tools that is in a storage unit and everything else that needs to be organized.

Some pics

IveGOTTA ask about the name, "cunctation"??

Everything looks great so far. For the lower wall I'd suggest something in a lighter color to offset the darkness you've used elsewhere. It'll maximize the light. Maybe metal roof panels in white or a lighter gray?

You have made a very nice workshop for your garage. The electrical upgrade was a good thing, and the wall cabinets will hold a lot of things. You have done a real good job and will have a great place to work. Nice bandsaw and drill press.

I was thinking that as well, what is the story?

The name is just a word that came to mind when I think of my garage. Simply delayed, mostly by my cause. It's one of those words I learned along time ago and never get to use it. Like superfluous or Porte cochere.

Thank you for the suggestion. I really like the white metal panel idea. At the very least I was thinking simply plain steel.

Thank you for the kind words. The band saw came from my father in law. Very nice guy to give a very solid bandsaw. Some people think I'm a little crazy for the amount of money and time I've put into this shop but I can't wait for some projects in here.

I have a few dirt bikes and will have a desert car pretty soon to wrench on. I have an old blazer that I need to do something with but I'm not sure just what the future holds for it.

We don't see them like that very often around here, that is beautiful! Most of them have long since returned to the earth.

The garage is all cleared out and ready for the grinding and patching process tomorrow.

I'll update as the next few days go by to show the finished floor product.

The floor has been well grounded and a coat of vaporsol moisture barrier/primer is down. Tomorrow will be vaporsol crack repair and first coat of epoxy with flakes.

Tomorrow will be a very exciting day as that is truly going to show the final look of the floor.

The cracks were repaired using vaporsol joint filler and the first coat of epoxy 400, 100% solids went down. Marble color 5/8 flake to refusal.

Today is chemseal to get tge flakes to lay flat then a coat of clear epoxy 400.

Tommorrow will be a coat of polyurethane and the floor will be done!

It looks great!

That does look awful pretty. I would love to do something with mine, but I don't have the space to store all the stuff while I grind and clean the floor.

If you care to share - how much did that floor cost you?

The floor ran about $5.20 a square foot which I felt is very reasonable considering the product and how it was applied. The installer ground the floor, primered with a vapor barrier, filled large cracks with epoxy filler, gray 100% solids gray epoxy, full 5/8 flake to refusal, cemseal to get flakes to lay flat and "melt", 100% solids clear epoxy, final coat of polyurethane. It has resulted in a very built and what I feel will be extremely durable floor. It's like glass!

Here's the final product. Came out amazing, can't walk on it for another 24 hours or so.

I know what you mean. I added a large attic storage to try and reclaim as much room as possible in the garage. I will be using a lot of welding blankets during my grinding and welding that's for sure. That's the other reason why I ran my 220v receptacles and one air drop at the front of the garage. That way I can roll out a welding table into the driveway and go to town out there.

Next step, hopefully this weekend will be to get the door cases on and get some metal paneling up.
