I thought you guys might appreciate this. I was out for a run last night with a friend in his neighborhood and I spotted a set of 3 old full size lockers on the curb in front of a house. Along with the lockers were few other items, but nothing of significance. They looked to be in great shape so I stopped for a closer look.

Long story short, my buddy and I went back in my truck and loaded them up. The lockers are about 7 feet tall and 3 feet wide and solid steel. They probably weight 150 lbs and were a ****** to wrestle out of my truck alone when I got home.

I was running short on storage so these should help quite a bit.

I got a unit similar to that with only two lockers. My plans are to make a number of shelves outta sheet metal and rivet them in place. I will post pics and story when I do.

Good snag!

Awesome! I've been looking for lockers like that for a long time. Makes you wonder why someone would get rid of them doesn't it? Oh well, they're yours now! Enjoy!

Thanks for the kind words.

An hour or so passed before I could get to them with my truck, I was sure they'd be gone, if not for scrap value alone.

They are a welcome addition for sure. I'm not sure exactly how to utilize them just yet, but I'll probably build some shelves for them as was suggested above. It will be nice to put them to use.

When I worked at a public school, we took hundreds of heavy old lockers to the scrap yard. According to the law in our state, things bought with public funds have to be auctioned or put up for sale for a fair market price. Scrap prices were high and we did as well with a lot less work by taking them to the scrap yard. Paying our staff to show the lockers to many buyers would have eroded our profits. Too bad, we could have equipped dozens of garages.
