Just joined here last week so I have been looking but really have not found how long it takes concrete to cure before you can coat it.. I had a 30 x 50 garage built and want to get the floors coated. The pad was poured mid January garage finished in Febuary. Spray foam insulation and electric work theen I am ready for coating. Since it is a new pad do I need to grind it or just etch it before going on with polyurea finish? Any info would be appreciated.

You need to wait a minimum of 30 days for a 4" concrete slab to cure before applying a coating, so you are good there. Yes, you still need to acid etch or grind before applying a polyurea coating. It's all about creating the correct profile for the coating to adhere and penetrate. How new the concrete is has nothing to do with it.

Shea is correct, general rule of thumb is minimum 30 days. Etching or grinding always recommended for good adhesion.

We carry an excellent one part hybrid polyurea/polyaspartic called SPGX that would work very well for this application.

Thanks. Trying to find all the right answers is proving to be a little difficult. Great forum though.

If the slab was highly power troweled and burnished, sometimes etching may not be enough, or you may need to etch st a higher concentration of acid.

Use of a rented Diamabrush from Home Depot would be the next step. Wait until fully cured, don't pre-prep.
