I have the reversible ratcheting ones and they work okay. My 15mm is made weak and if you ever use the open end it will almost always round the fastener off. I have no other complaints with any other sizes and I have sae and metric sets.

the main reason I ask is because Proto says that the blackhawk wrenches share the same ASD design in the open end so I was wondering what people are experiencing with them to this point.

Are you sure the Blackhawks are US made?

The Dewalt long pattern combination wrenches are nice but, they're made in Taiwan.

100%. Called Proto just to make sure but their website also says USA for combo wrenches. These aren't for me but for a brother in law who doesn't want to spend a lot and wants USA manufacturing.

I have a set although mine are apparently from before they added ASD. I view them as equivalent to old craftsman US wrenches. That is, perfectly acceptable for 90% of what I do, and definitely enough for your average diyer type. Before I was spoiled by my first proto wrench I would have thought I found the ultimate brand for tools in blackhawk.

Last year there was a guy selling sets on Ebay for $32, not sure on the year of production but they are USA and do not have the ASD feature. I picked up a Metric set along with some other Blackhawk stuff he had.
These are not my everyday "go to" wrenches but I'm happy with them.

Are those marked "USA" on the opposite side? If not: How do you know they're produced here?

I have an SAE set that I keep in my work bag, along with some Blackhawk socket set. Probably the best money I've spent tools cost/quality wise. The eBay seller was Satco Supply. Lots of NOS Blackhawk tools at great prices.

They look eerily similar to the Stanley-Made Husky of the 90's :bounce:

I think in the 90's Stanley was rebranding the same US- made wrenches with four or five different names, I've seen Stanley, Husky, Blackhawk, Challenger by Proto, and Master Mechanic (? I think). They kept the same pattern for a while when they started producing Stanley and Husky in Taiwan or China.

According to the Proto website they are made in the USA. I ordered two sets earlier today just for the 1 inch and up wrenches. Screenshot_2018-06-12-00-20-35.jpeg

If you are able to - let me know how you like them once they come in.

Ditto here. Although I was saving up for something like Wright or Proto with the "teeth" on the open end, I'd appreciate a review.

No problem doing that at all. Im currently using what I believe is the sister set of these wrenches in my work tool bag, with the exception of being 6 point. The 6 points have served me well, but I only have up to 7/8 in that set and frequently need up to 1 1/8.

These are the wrenches the 12 points will be replacing in my work bag. The new set should be identical otherwise.

My 2 new sets of Blackhawk wrenches from CleanitSupppy today. They are satin finish 12 point combos. As I suspected, they are the sister set to the 6 points i have , except the set i have been using doesn't have larger than 7/8 inch. I expect these to be great wrenches also. For 57 dollars for this USA wrench set, I would jump on them if you can live with satin finish.IMG_20180614_120132.jpeg

Do they have an ASD open end?

No ASD. Just the standard open end.

Interesting. Maybe they're NOS? Like I said when I called Proto the lady I spoke with assured me they had an Anti Slip open end on the current production blackhawk wrenches.

They have alot more products listed USA made than I thought. I have a full polish, lone 3/4 full polish wrench in the toolbox. It's USA made also. It's a nice looking wrench, especially for 2.34 from Amazon warehouse deals. Its not ASD but nice none the less. Can't say I've ever used it as I had forgot about it till I checked my Amazon orders. I'll snap a pic of it in a few when I head to the garage to change the oil in my bike.

Heres the full polish I was talking about. Still unused lol. As for the ASD end on wrenches, I wouldn't let that be a deal breaker. The only wrenches I have with the ASD style end are the SK x frame wrenches, and haven't once used them in 2 years that a regular open end wouldn't work.IMG_20180614_142148.jpeg
