I have a set of hand me down 1970's 3/8" drive USA Craftsman 12 pt. SAE sockets in my RV tool bag. After having a bad rounding experience with the 12 pt. socket, I decided to step up to a mid level 6pt. set.

I've focused on a rail set of Sunex for $50 or a similar Proto set for $56. I always give a US made tool a preference, all other criteria being roughly equal.

Are the Protos still "all that" in this price range?

My company supplies us with proto sockets and ratchets. I have never had an issue but not all proto is made in USA so may want to verify this before ordering

I bought a few sets of proto sockets, 3/8 deep and shallow 6pt SAE, and a set of proto crows foot wrenches. Can confirm that all mine say made in USA, and they're all fine tools. The chrome is good quality, and I don't expect them to break anytime soon, if ever.

Edit: meant to mention, I bought all of these last year

Proto impacts hold up better than anything. Most places don't even have sunex in stock
