I have a 35x50 room in my shop that Im thinking about putting in a curtain for when I do some painting and body work. Id like to split off a 1/3 of the room or so from floor to ceiling. Has anyone put one up and have recommendations? Thanks

I can't link to other sites but farms have large curtain walls on winches and pulleys. They can be ordered to exact dimensions and with a variety of different types and weights of fabric. Then they roll up against the ceiling out of the way.

I had a curtain made for my last shop by a boat canvas shop. I had a roll of denier nylon that I had cut into panels and sewn together. It was roughly 30' long. The top was hemmed like curtains in the house and I had big grommets (maybe 1") spaced every 12 inches or so. The bottom was hemmed as well so I could slide scrap metal into the pocket and weigh it down to prevent it from blowing around. I hung it on a vinyl coated cable, one eye on the left, another on the right and a turnbuckle at the end of the cable to tighten it up.

I did it to keep heat in one side of my shop, but I had an unfinished ceiling so the heat just went up and out the ridge vent. It also billowed out more than I liked. When it wasn't in use, I just slid it like a shower curtain up against the wall. I think even with having the material it cost me a few hundred to have it sewn.

Yup, I did. Works awesome. I posted all my pictures of my setup in this thread. Another member has posted his setup as well. I've sprayed 10+ gallons of laquer and sealer in it at this point...I love it. I've since added some framing at the top, to drop that curtain down all the way to the floor. I do need to add some filters over the fan though.

Looks awesome! I'm thinking about the same thing for my future pressure washing bay.

I am planning on installing a curtain to divide my 28x40 down the middle(ish). That will keep my sawdust off of the cars, creating two 28x~20 spaces.

I bought a bunch of Harbor Freight Drop Cloths (<$15 each) that I will sew together for the purpose. I am planning for a track or cable near the ceiling and putting grommets into the drop cloths.
