Hi,
I found a compressor for sale, but before I drive out to look at it I am curious if anybody would know what the spec is on the pump. The tag reads CQ968A, for what I think is the model number and then 24x48-80 for the tank size and capacity. Still looking online for a manual....

So I went out, looked it over, hesitated...and then paid $150 for it. It's a Curtis CQ968 package with a D96 two stage pump and a Dayton 220V, 3HP motor. Has a magnetic starter and pressure activated unloader mechanism. Vintage ~1980 or so, as told by the previous owner. Used exclusively in a dry cleaning operation.

yup - the C96 being the predecessor to the D96. I wonder which one would be more desirable or heavy duty? I found parts list at the link you posted. Any idea where to get a manual or service manual (for cheap?)

The D96 is presently used on compressor units Curtis sells. My D96 looks a bit heavier around the cylinder casting. I believe the PDf I linked shows 18cfm output, same as the D96 on my unit. The manuals are not very detailed, if you go to the Curtis site just about any manual for other model will supply the same info. As far as a real service manual, I looked for one for my Masterline unit, could not find one. On the Curtis site, if you dig you can get some of the manuals .
