Hey guys I was at a garage sale and saw a curtis key cutting machine buried in the corner. Asked the lady if it was for sale and she said she would call her husband. He said to come back in a hour. He's asking $125. I couldn't get a picture buts its blue and has a stand and a key rack with a lot of blanks. Do you guys think its a good price... i know its hard to say without a model number or pictures. Thanks in advance

Yeah, it's pretty much impossible to say without a model number or pictures.

If it's one of the 2000 series models with the integral base and key display board, it's likely easily worth the asking price, but that series is discontinued, and AFAIK, Curtis doesn't support it anymore except for replacement wheels.

I posted the pics in the garage sale page but ill post here too. Got it for $125. It has two sides on the display board and a lot of key blanks. The guy I bought it from was a hobby locksmith and gave me a couple pointers.

Just came across this post, saw it in GJ.
I'll say it again, you did very well. The 2000 is a good machine.
Curtis itself is long gone, Barnes Distribution bought them, and is now part of MSC.
Hawley Lock Supply is a good source for old key machine parts.

You will need to fill out the NSA registration.( FED .Gov .shithead#$@%^ sub part b summary 6section 14 sr /gh )and have it notorized and in the GADO office before midnight.
With this new tool you are a security threat to these good ol united states and as such you are the future target of many types of body scans and searches.

OH and make check( $250 admin fee ) out to the "o" care recovery fund.
