cushion under race deck?

I read a thread last week about putting some rug cushion under the race deck before putting it down. I tried searching but couldn't find the post. So what have you put under your race deck / motofloor so the tiles don't make noise when you walk on them.
Also is it safe to put a four post lift on top of the tiles?

Thanks,
Dan

I would say that you do not put anything under them unless you dont ever need them to drain water..

And, absolutely not a four poster on them, except for 4 poster bed... LOL

I would have thought a four post lift would be fine since the 1' x 1' base would spread most of the weight across a few tiles.

Just not something I would do... I think the weight would easily overcome the tiles and create a less than steady lift...

I've never seen a lift directly on top of racedeck.

What I've seen people do is remove the tiles where the posts will set and then after the posts are in place trim and relay the tiles around the post.

I have had a 4 post lift on top of Kiwi Tiles for years. The tiles show absolutely no compression of deflection. In conversations with the reps of both Kiwi and Racedeck they state that a 4 post lift can be placed safely on top of their tiles.

I put landscape felt under my floor ( I will try to post a picture), it worked great. I also have a 4 post lift in my garage on top of the floor and have had not issues. The rep I bought it from told that it was no problem and that it could handle extreme weights, they promised me that they would replace any tile if I crushed it.

I used the Pergo type floor installation kit foam they sell at Costco. I think the brand is Harmonics. The kit contains a block, shims, install tool and a roll of Foam that has a layer of heavy plastic. I used just the roll of foam. It took 3 Kits to do my 2 car Garage. So about $60 or so. When I installed the foam I put the plastic side up. The foam added some cushion but more importantly it got rid of that clack against the concrete sound when you walk. I have checked several time over the past year for mildue but nothing is growing under the tiles. So the moisture does escape as it should.

Sandoval,
Thanks I'll either give that a shot or the landscaping felt, either one should eliminate the clacking. I got in on the motofloor deal that costco was having. After shipping I think I paid around $900 for eight boxes and one finishing kit. The only thing I'm worried about would be if I were to mop the floor or spill oil on it and have it seep between the tiles.

With the landscape felt, it is made to be in moisture. It is made from some type of synthetic material? It works pretty good and was cheap, around $50

I sell RaceDeck flooring. You can put a 4 post lift on top of the tiles no problem. I've had one on my racedeck tiles for over 3 years now.

Thanks,

Just wondering if you have had a problem with the landscape felt under the racedeck? Does having the felt under the tiles make them move when it gets wet under the tiles? Can you post a pick of what it looks like as you are putting the felt under the tiles? I'm hoping to do my garage in the next month or two. Looking to get the best price on Race Deck for a 4 car garage. Anybody know the best price for Race Deck?

my 4-post is directly on top of my racedeck tiles and has been for 3+ years with NO problems, no hint of damaging the tiles in any way and rock solid lift. I asked racedeck prior to doing this since I have the caster kit for my lift and wanted to be able to move it (never have but wanted to be able to) and they said the tiles can handle some ridiculous amount of weight and it would be no problem. Don't quote me but its something like 12,000lbs. per tile, don't remember the actual number but it was many many many times more than the lift and cars would weigh. No problem at all.

Please.... you can put any kind of lift you want on racedeck. Just bolt it to the concrete. It's done ALL the time. Heck there are even pictures of racedeck under lifts on racedeck's website!
