I missed seeing this. My dad drew on an old bookshelf for my newborn daughter. He's an excellent artist, taking scenes from different books and drawing them all over the outside. I'll take a couple pics and post them in here.

The case is red, the shelves are white
The result is such a pretty sight

It'll sure hold Seuss books galore
Now clean that mess up off the floor.

very very well played....

Shock....great job.....

Alas....mine are past that fun stage....now they want to build things that move.

Great job; I love projects like this. It looks like you used luan for the sides. Another option is bending plywood - it comes in 4 x 8 either barrel or column configuration. The plys are glued in the same direction - easily curves into tight shapes. It's about 3/8" thick. I've used it a lot in building sets and scenery. Again - good work and thanks for sharing.

Brum - i like that shelf, very creative

priceless and walton, i used 1/4" luan, since the front frame and back were 3/4" ply and the shelf supports extended the length to support between, all i needed was a wrap instead of a supporting member, but since there are 2 layers glued together, it actually makes it fairly rigid.

Thanks all for the great comments

larlar81 - its about 6ft tall and about 3 ft on the base, i basically just sketched everything on a piece of 3/4 ply and made the shelves out of 1" pine boards, if you look closely at the pics of the build, the back solid piece is copied into a "hollow" front piece to match, that it what the luan (or 1/8" ply) is attached to, using crown staples, then I faced the whole shelf with 1" pine boards and routed the edge for a roundover look. the shelf supports are 1 1/2" pine boards running the depth of the cabinet between the rear 3/4" and the front 3/4".

let me know if there is something else you would like to know, id be more than happy to share
