Custom snap on ratchet with insulated handle idea

So I have a replacement #2 insulated on the way, and I am supposed to destroy this one. I figured I will make a custom ratchet out of it. Do you think the guts of the screwdriver will make it difficult to make a handle out of? I do not have access to a lathe and plan on drilling it out with a press so any tips are much appreciated.

I have to figure out if the shaft is pressed in first SO replaces the unit with a new one instead of pressing one in like the other screwdrivers. It looks pressed in to me so with some boiling water a vise and a slide hammer I figure I can get it apart. I wont take it apart till the new one comes in though. I think Ill only be left with a 3/8 or 1/2 hole though

My guess would be that the shank slides into the insulating sleve and then into the screwdriver handle
I suspect they don't just replace the shank for liability reasons in that they rate the screwdrivers for insulating and don't want to risk that.
I think the shank will pull out but you will mess the sleve in the process. Then drill out the handle and press it over the ratchet. I don't even think you need to modify the ratchet

You might have to modify the ratchet slightly to grab the handle. You can try just pressing it on for a friction fit, but you will for sure need a shop press of some sort to get it on if you plan on having it stay on. If you watch this video:
(How it's made, snap on ratchets) You'll see how it's friction fit on there with the ratchet sort of grabbing the cushion as well

I agree that I will need a shop press, and I think I will wait until I can use my Dads neighbors when I get to that point. I will probably be disassembling the screwdriver tomorrow, and go from there. I watched the video, that was pretty interesting. I think If I can do a tight enough friction fit It will be fine, but if the guts of the screwdriver dont look right, I may end up scrapping the whole idea

There was thread on this a while ago with many examples of different ratchets. Can't seem to find it.

I ran in to a bit of a problem. The screwdriver they sent out does not match my set. The old one pulled apart really easily. Hopefully the new one comes out just as easily and I can put that shaft on the new grip

You will probably ruin the integrity of that high voltage screwdriver if you take it apart.. There must be a reason there are no repair blades for these.

it was a pressure fit. shaft was very easy to remove and replace. The metal tip portion is only about an inch and a half with about half of that exposed. that leaves 6-1/2 inches of composite with the handle going over a portion of that. I guess you could ruin the fit if you arent careful.
