Ok now for the project I really had in mind.

I wanted a small. custom painted tool box to carry a few essentials in my 1966 Chevy Nova.

I had been planning this project for a while but had never gotten around to buying a box. One day while looking for something else, I came across this box at the back of a bottom shelf in the garage. Honestly I had forgotten it was even there, but that is a story for another day.

Anyway I gave it a trip through the sand blasted, repaired a few dings and started painting.

Here is what I started with.

Blasted and etch primed.

A little GM Gratto blue in the airbrush for a stripe.

Ford Lapis blue for the main colour.

GM medium spiral gray for the lid.

Some clear, and a little silver on the hardware.

It should look right at home in the trunk of this.

It looks good, matches the Duece nicely. I see you didn't paint the inside, any plans for that ? I'd suggest some roll-on bedliner like Herculiner.

The only obvious solution for the inside of the box is to upholster it to match the car!

Looks good, and makes me feel like a slacker for having a faded green box in my silver truck.

Thanks for the positive coments. I haven't decided on the inside yet. I was thinking of painting it the lite blue, as that would match the car, but something more durable sounds appealing too. I like the bed liner Idea.

In case it helps, Herculiner make a spray in liner, available at TSC also and the size of a regular aerosol paint can.

I have used it in tool tray, insde my tool box. I can't tell you how well it will last though. I did use some regular roll-on liner in the drawes of my box and it has done well, a bit expensive ($30 can) for a small tool box.
