Cut a rug... Hard to do?

Just had new carpet laid last month. We tiled the kitchen and decided to run tile in front of a door. How hard is it to get the Carpet right? HF has a kicker for 20 bucks. Carpet place wants a 100 bucks. I can't imagine this taking a pro long to do. But then again I'm not a pro , so what do I know
