I went to HD and they had nothing. I have filed the edges of the eave where I cut but I'd rather have some type of protective edging there. Preferably something that is paintable. It will be concealed by the camera mounts I'm making but me being me I want to use some type of anti chafe. I was going to originally go w/ my go to method when playing w/ cars (Vacuum hose) but i didn't like the look on a square hole. If I get something metal that is push on and friction fit I could miter it and have it look like it was designed that way which is my goal. Does anyone know what this could be called and where I could possibly get some? Locally would be preferable but i can order if need be. I suppose I could use edge trim as I've used it w/ my factory five car and liked but it I'd rather find a different solution I can paint.

Thanks much,

Dave

Exactly. I basically cut a square hole out of the metal soffit under the eave and I want to protect the edges for the cat 5 I'm running through it but also for cosmetics sake. It's very thin.

How big is the hole and will the cat5 be exposed afterwards? A picture is worth a 1000 words on this one - hard to recommend a source without some more details.

My company installs building automation controls so I've got all kinds of resources for making wire installs look good.

hole is about 1.5x2.5" and it will not be exposed. I cannot take a pic as i am offsite. I just found a random pic of an eave soffit and drew it out. Not to scale. I want to edge this with some push on self retaining edging. I linked something in my first post i've used before on thin aluminum sheet that I can use as a worst case scenario but hoping to find something else.

Door edge trim from any auto parts store. Cut four pieces at an angle so they miter together.

I've also put a slit in vinyl or rubber tubing to use it in much the same way. Cutting a slit in tubing for more than a few inches is a little tough but do-able

Perhaps a few dabs of hot glue down inside for extra grip.

You could also just install an outlet blanking plate with a couple of little bars of sheet metal to thread the screws into.

not even hole is the same size or a standard size so those won't work. Door edge guard is basically what i pasted a link to as to what i'd rather not use. Was hoping for a different type of push on grommet edging. I'll look around digikey as I use them for my electronics purchases anyway.

Thanks

I'm not going to drill more holes into the soffit and I also need it to be concealed/low profile. I have a 2.5" aluminum strip that the cameras will mount to that will be atop this which is secured by the jchannel with friction, anything wider will be visible which I do not want.

That is exactly what I was looking for although it looks as if the opening is too large for thin aluminum eave soffit pieces. ,thanks much!!

Edging for vinyl decking membrane. It goes over the edge when it is glued onto the drip edge flashing.
Cut the pieces at 45° and slip them on like a picture frame.
