Hello all! Brand spanking new to this forum.

I have two outdoor porch lights I am mounting on 4" vinyl siding. The mounts I picked up at the lighting store have a big circle cut right were the hardware for the light mounts need to screwed in, so they're worthless. The lights have a long base (14 1/2") and I haven't been able to find large enough pre-fab'd bases, except for these large 16 x 18 White Meter Base J-blocks. Can these be cut to custom sizes, primed and painted?

Or better yet, any direction to pre-fab solids (no 5" hole in the middle) 15-16"?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Arlington makes a "Super Mega" siding plate but it does not have the siding bevel. I have made mounting plates from Aztek plastecized wood product and even copied the bevel detail fo rthe backside. I also used a 3" round box and 3-1/4" diam. hole in the aztek. Took a little while to do with table saw, router and holesaw, but customer was happy.

Thanks for the reply. I will look into this. Just to clarify, the "bevel" you mean the angled cut to accommodate the vinyl siding? If so, I was thinking I could use a miter saw on a piece of 2" x 7", and router an edge. But then the reality of maintenance started to sink in...

I have the same thing on my garage. Your light won't cover the circle?

The other way to mount them would be to use a block of Cedar or a block of PVC trim board, mount it, then trim around it with "J" channel.

Thinking back on mine, I think the center hole on the blocks were only about 2" and not 5"

Tomee, Yes the bevel is the 90 degree triangles that i glued to the underside of the board to fill in the gap otherwise created by the siding shape. The triangles were glued on, then both sides finish cut for clean edge, then top side edge rounded over with router.
You can do what kevin said if you are willing to cut into the siding to trim out a rectangle with j-channel. I was planning to do what he said, but my customer couldn't deal with cutting into the siding. Either way, a little bit of work, but looks nice when done.

Thanks both. I ordered the Super Mega last night as a next step, but it's great to have options if I need them. I'll let you know come Monday.
