Cut through underground telephone cable

I started digging a hole for a fence post and cut through the cable. I temporarily spliced a jumper to get the phone working again.

Is there a junction box or two that I could use to bury to make a waterproof vault for the splice? There is a section of the cable about 8 inches long that I had to remove.

Just **** splice and use the heatshrink with the glue in it. That will keep moisture out. They sell it at electrical suppliers. Or run a new cable.

Guys split mine when they dug a small footer fr a retaining wall. They spliced it together, heat shrink each wire, heat shrink one larger over all of it, then they coated the whole thing with liquid electrical tape.

Thanks for the responses on the cable repair.

When I cut the bad section out, it appeared that there was some gel or something in the cable to help with the insulation. Before posting this thread, I called the phone company to repair this, because I have so much going on right now. So after viewing the responses, I checked on Youtube and found a telephone cable repair the used 6 pair splice block. Then called to cancel the phone company service call.

I ordered this splice block and minutes later the phone company showed up, WTF didn't they get the message, apparently not.

So talking to the service tech, I let him fix it; which I had done most of the work for him. He lead me to believe that they might not charge me for the repair, we'll see.

Here is the repair that he did.

These modules completely encapsulate the wires to keep out any moisture. So after ordering the other splice kit, I was able to cancel the order.
