When trying to remove 3/8” off the 1” wide side of the tile, the tile tilts into the blade channel and I get a broken piece. Ive tried holding the tile in place with a scrap 2x4’s on each side.

I removed the individual tile off the backing sheet. This is for tiling around an electrical box.

This is a harbor freight wet saw. See pics.

Any tips to get the cut right?

Try putting the tile on top of a piece of 1/4 plywood or 1/8 masonite bridged across the trough. I wouldn't hold the tile with my fingers use a stick. If it's just a few cuts, try nippers. The cut is hidden by the outlet cover plate.

Don't lay the tile on the saw - hold it in your hand and slowly move it on the spinning blade. Doesn't need to be purdy as the cover plate will hide the cut.

Use a piece of scrap tile to lay the 1 X 4 on. Cut both, but cut the scrap in the middle so it supports both pieces of the 1 X 4. Cut slowly.

This is the answer.

Buy a cheap 12x12 tile, use it as a zero clearance table to cut on top of.

raise your blade to not cut all the way through or cut in from a side and not all the way across to keep it together.

Thanks guys. I used a piece of 1/4 ply. I held the cut piece with two small 2x4 blocks and pushed it through the saw blade

I’ll use a piece of scrap tile next time.

Marble is so brittle. (My 3rd time tiling and the other 2x were porcelain). If I looked at the marble wrong it crumbled.
