Cutting 18" Racedeck Flooring?

Howdy,

I see that there are some fairly inexpensive guillotine cutters for the 12" floor tiles, but I'm trying to plan the best way cut down 18" faux wood tiles. Any ideas on this? The larger cutters are quite expensive (around $350) and I will probably only need to cut a few.

I could just get the smaller cutter for the 12" tiles and cut the 18" tiles with a circular saw.

Any tips here? I don't have a table saw, but I have a handheld circular saw. I know I need a fine-tooth blade for that.

Also, the garage is offset but I've seen some strategies in the forums how to tackle that.

Thanks....I'm finally building out my garage in the new home!

Follow-up, I have my RaceDeck flooring but not yet installed. I was collecting the other items I needed before tackling this solo, and there's plenty of stuff to move around. RaceDeck has been very helpful here. Should work out okay since I can square everything up on the cutter. Better than using a utility knife, and I don't own a jigsaw or tablesaw. I also don't want to create plastic dust, so the guillotine cutter is by far the best solution I think. Only $129 at Lowe's with local pickup!

Can't wait. I've been dreaming of a RaceDeck garage floor since 2004 when I bought my first place. Sold that and moved so I can properly charge my car (long but interesting story) and now....the dream is about to become reality.

The next step will be custom cabinets and storage!

FYI: With guillotine cutters there's no way to just rotate a larger 18" tile because they're made to accommodate a maximum size. An 18" tile will not fit under a 13" shear 'guillotine'-style cutter at all.

Anyone have tips on cutting 18" tiles aside from super expensive guillotine-style cutters? Does the utility knife scoring method work okay? I have a steel L-square for this just in case. I'm trying not to have to buy a cutter that will accommodate 18" tiles but I really want a clean cut for edging when I get to that point. An 18" tile will not fit in a 13" guillotine-style cutter at all.

Thanks!

Push it through a table saw?

When I installed ours in the basement I just used a jig saw. Just make sure to use a good blade and go fast. Too slow it gums up and causes melting. Then if needed I would debur with a razor knife. Once I got the hang of it I no longer had to debur. It also worked nice for cutting around things like door jambs and such. Which would be hard with a circular saw.

I used my bandsaw with a fence. Set the fence to exactly what I needed and it made perfect cuts.

You can probably find a used bandsaw for pretty cheap.
