Cutting a garage door

Low overhead track would stop it from hitting on top if that is the issue. All my doors have less than 12 inches from the top.

How many inches less than 12 of headroom are your doors?
Will low overhead track lower it 4 inches? I have a steel arch rib garage. There is plenty of headroom for the pulleys etc. but the adjacent arch 'valley' is 4 inches lower.

How many inches will 'Quick Turn brackets' gain me?

I didn't look at the date. There is so much good information in it. Is it better to start a new thread rather than tie into existing contributions? If you think it is best to start a new one I will do that when I get to the photo stage.
