Well, the footings and walls are poured and backfilled on my 30X60 garage. To get water into the garage, they need to horizontal bore under the new garage and into the basement of the house. The people doing the horizontal drilling said that if I cut a 2' X 2' hole in the mechanical room of the house I could save $300.00 on the jobb. I own a Sthil concrete saw so I figured it would be no problem, boy was I wrong.
After wrapping the room in plastic I started the saw and everything seemed fine. I made two of the 2' cuts and the exhaust fumes were so bad the carbon monoxide detector went off. After airing it out, I tried to finish the cuts but my saw won't go completely through the concrete. To make matters a little tougher, I can't get my saw in the tight space to make the cuts on the end. What can I do? Thanks.....Mark

bfh. or cut beyond the 2x2 hole needed and even then bfh to break apart the slab. to do the same thing i used my 4.5" grinder to score the slab then a demo hammer to brake apart the concrete. its not too hard to get the sides pretty smooth with the right bits in a hilti hammer

You have to figure the depth of the blade to the thickness of the wall. So im guessing your blade depth is 4.5" deep with 6" to 8" thick wall. Now you need to figure how far to cut past you 2' mark on the wall. Once you do that you have to cut from the back side and try to meet up with the cuts on the other side. Use a roto hammer to pilot drill your corners for marking and finding rebar.
If the wall is hollow, score cut cut it and use a BFH.
And what ever you do use a FAN and or a resporator so we dont read about you getting CO2 poisining.
Have fun.
