Cutting down a lista toolbox?

I have a nice small Lista toolbox i got cheap im thinking of cutting down 6" to fit under my lathe. Has anyone reduced one in height? Any tips? Im thinking of loosing the lower drawer so i dont mess with the locking mechanism too much.
