I have studied the manual, gone to Grizzly's videos, and asked machinist friends, but no one can tell me what gears to change on the Grizzly G0752 lathe to cut Metric threads. Any assistance would be appreciated!
Hypothetically based on the pic I posted, if you wanted to cut threads with a 1.25 pitch, you would have 45 tooth gear in the “a” position, a 40 tooth gear in the “b” position. Additionally you would have the 120, 40, 60, 127 tooth gears set up as shown. You would have one knob (lever) set to the “II” position, and the other set to the “A” position. Set up like this, you would be good to go cutting threads with a 1.25 pitch
Based on the thread chart for your lathe you should have it set up as follows
The 120, 40, 60, 127 set up as shown. Typically these stay the same for most metric threads.
27 tooth gear in the “a” position
60 tooth gear in the “b” position
Lever set at “lll”
Lever set at “A”
Additionally there is a lash adjustment for the bottom gear shaft. Loosen and pivot it down when changing the gears. When you have the gears you want. Pivot it back up to engage the other gears and tighten
I'll try that again tomorrow. That's what I did earlier and gears didn't match up. Obviously, I did something wrong!

The manual RTM linked has you lathe with a imperial lead screw 12 TPI, so you can’t use the treading dial when cutting metric threads leave the half nuts engaged till the tread is complete you reverse the machine to take the next cuts
it will take practice

Hi everyone, my 1st post here. I'm having trouble (no luck) threading with this machine. I haven't been able to to get my lathe to repeat the the thread lead on subsequent passes. The mated gears for threading ( #127 & #120 ) have a lot of radial slop to each other, so I'm going to bolt / pin...
Totally agree, I would use a die to cut the thread , although if some wants to learn I am only too willing to help , learn to grind a piece of high speed steel to the correct angle (60 deg for metric)
then run the thread down till the nut fits and see the smile on the persons face is very satisfying
I am a fitter and machinist by trade and this year I started to transition to retirement so no more work
just play on cars with mates I do feel my trade is dying art, between the govement and industry they don’t want to invest the time and money and this started in the late 80
