Hi fellas,
I purchased a 330' x 8' roll of 1"x 1" square fence. It is on a heavy cardboard tube. Does anyone have experience doing this? Tool/s used? Thanks!

I guess I made you guess, that was not my intention. I apologize for the lack of info. I bought the roll knowing I needed 4' high fencing but, balancing cost VS roll size I bought the 8' roll. Now I need to cut the roll in two. I started cutting with a fine tooth pull saw but, it's quite a chore. Just asking if anyone has done this "the easy way"?

Circular saw with a fine tooth blade assuming you could cut at least halfway through.

A circ saw would probably be my first recommendation as well (tough without seeing the fencing...). Maybe a Sawzall with a fine blade on it.

If you can lay it out on maybe a piece of plywood, the circular saw should make quick work of the cut, 8' at a time. Either way, it is going to take a while

I'm assuming the fencing is still on the roll.

I would be tempted to try wrapping around the center with a good band of duct tape, mark your 48" mark and then with a high chain speed cut it with a chainsaw. If you have access to a small home owner type saw with all the anti kickback teeth might even work better as the kerf would be narrower as well.

It would be a pain involving some helpers but I think a Beverly shear (throatless shear) would work well and cleanly. I envision it being mounted on a rigid post or narrow width bench and pushing the handle from the backside so the two strands could bypass the operator rather than trying to stand on the full-width incoming material.

I finally cut the roll of fence yesterday. Checked the chain on my saw (it was sharp) and had my son and wife support the ends (center portion on saw horses) then I cut. It did not grab but, cut slower than soft wood, about the same speed as a hard wood. The only draw back was the melting of the poly, not as clean as I wanted. It can be cut!
