im thinking of ordering either the wrestling or Hansen trays for my sockets but I'm limited on space so I am thinking about cutting the tray down to only the sizes I need (ie 3/8mm from 8-19 instead of say 6-22). Has anyone done this? I really like the wrestling but it would almost be a shame to cut those beauties. I emailed wrestling about make a couple custom sets but have not heard back.

Hey, true dat!
FWIW, I cut up the Harbor Freight Socket Trays (easiest to re-label) any which way I pleased. Of course they're dirt cheap so, no risk though.

I cut all of my metric Hansens, some of my fractional Hansens, both Westling bit socket holders, and some of my Craftsman plastic rails. The toolbox real estate is more valuable than plastic pegs I have no interest in filling.

That's exactly what I was thinking of doing. Does cutting the ends off the hansens make them any weaker.

Yes, but usually the pegs break off before the trays themselves crack so it's not a big deal. I don't recommend trying to transport the entire tray once it's full if both ends are cut off.

I'm still hopeful I can get westling to make a set the way I want and I pay whatever extra it will cost to run a odd batch

Well good news for anyone in the same boat as me (limited real estate in your box). Heard back from Pam at westling today and she informed me westling is in the process of designing and making smaller socket trays and they should be out in time for the labor day sale.
