Cutting up Box Elder

I have a couple big of Box Elder trees that I had to take down when I put my shop up. My Dad and I were limbing them up and hit the red streaks in them so we saved a couple longer straight truck sections. I'm planning on bringing them in to get cut up into lumber. Does anyone know if the red streaks stay or if they'll fade away. I'm planning on just doing 1 by stock, but if it really gets colorful, I might see if I can have a thicker 2-3 inch slab cut for a possible bar top. I know the wood turning guys like it, but just curious as to if the red color will stay or not...or if there's anything that can be done to keep it.
Thanks for any tips/info.

The red will eventually fade. But, if you use an oil finish instead of a film forming finish like poly or varnish, you can lightly sand with fine paper and remove the dull layer and then apply new oil over that.
