I have been doing a lot of cylinder heads lately. Mostly performance (springs with higher pressure).

I have an el cheapo overhead valve spring compressor from harbor freight. It works “ok” for stock or close to it springs, and works ok to swap springs with heads installed

I’m looking for a C clamp style that holds the valve in the head from underneath, while compressing the valve spring above (with cylinder head removed of course).

I prefer it to be US made, but if it is a quality unit, COO isn’t a big deal.

What do you guys recommend?

If you're doing springs with more than 100# seat pressure, shop around for one with an air cylinder.

Good ones are $300 and up, but I see them used occasionally.

I used the manual version, my Bud has one, I got an old one, it works pretty good and once its set is about as fast as air for our type of work. Doesn't need a hose. Is a lot cheaper. On assembly line the power would help.
