Hi All,

I'm new to the GJ forum. I was pointed here by a friend who has used the forum to research his own garage upgrades. My girlfriend and I are in the process of closing on our first house. The house is perfect for a hobbyist/tinkerer, 700sqft of living space and a 1200sqft detached garage!

I'm a car enthusiast and I've always had to wrench at my parents house, and for the past year I've had a small one car garage at the place we currently rent. This year we realized we could finally afford to purchase a home and stop renting, so this is the first garage I can call my(our ;)) own! It's a blank canvas and imo an insane first garage. I'm eager to start improving upon the space and outfitting it with new tools and equipment to make car restorations and maintenance easier.

My initial to-do list (input welcome, I'm new to this):
-Floor treatment (leaning towards rust bullet)
-Fix up existing built in work bench (paint, new top work surface, etc)
-Install Speakers/amp/tv
-Create section for squat rack/bench home gym
-Add space heater
-Improve storage solutions (cabinets, peg boards, shelves, etc.)
-Combine both single garage doors into one double wide garage door

I'm sure this list will grow once we move in, but this is the preliminary list of things I hope to accomplish. Let me know if you have any suggestions for the space, always open to input and suggestions.

Anyways, on to the pictures!

Cheers,
Alex

That's awesome, my wife and I closed on our house last week and it has a 30x36 detached garage which is what sold me lol. I have so many projects I want to tackle and I haven't even moved in yet. I have cleaned out the space and painted the walls back to white (painted neon green from previous owner) and repainted floors.

congrats!

Congratulations to you both! I remember my first garage, I mean HOUSE haha. It truly was the part of the house/plot that sold me. That and the land!

That's a great looking garage! Congrats to you as well! There are so many possibilities, what are some of your plans?

Thank you! We are both excited to have some extra work/play space and a yard. The garage combined with the recently updated house really sold the whole package for us. With 4 cars between the two of us we can use the extra parking :p

That's awesome! I remember the feeling going from renting something with little to no "hobby" space to a yard, large garage, and a house. Enjoy every moment man! I just wish my garage was your size. My detached is 24x24 and I feel cramped after 3 years. They fill up quickly!

Thank you! A lift is a must but that is down the road. I epoxied the floor and hung some stuff up for now! Haven't moved in yet and already messing around my space haha
