Tony, thanks for reminding us to never take life for granted. Had your daughter been driving the kind of beaters we and our children drove years ago, the outcome might have been far more serious. Please let Cody know his service to this country is both rare and valued. by those of us who sit comfortably at home because of his sacrifice. One of our five grandsons joined the Navy and will hopefully serve and return safely. I've had two wounds like Cody's and I can attest to the gauze packing and pulling process being both painful and unnerving (it's hard to believe how much gauze goes into those holes in your body).

BF, those photos are a real eye opener about what can happen to those in the armed services. Thanks for posting and thanks to your son for his service. Glad he survived that explosion!
That gauze packing/changing does not look like fun.

First, I salute your son and hope he’s doing better. Definitely a terrible situation to be put in. IEDs are some nasty and cowardly things.

Heres to a speedy recovery for your daughter and I hope there’s no serious effects from the crash. I’m sure having her dad there quickly was a blessing to her.

Wow, so glad to hear your daughter is going to be OK. My son had the exact same thing happen to him on the highway while driving my HHR.
As for your son. Kudos to him for sacrificing for the rest of us! I couldn't imagine getting that call and being so far away. Hug him for all of us!

Congrats on the new garage space also!

Thanks for sharing those pics and your thoughts with us Tony.
I'm assuming that your son is in Indy with you guys now?

Tony, I'll also pray for your daughters speedy recovery. I appreciate you sharing the images of your son and his buddies.
I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciate the sacrifices parents and loved ones make so that we can sleep securely.

Your son and all the others in uniform, past and present, deserve our utmost respect and prayers. May they be kept safe!

Gentlemen,

Thank you for the kind words, thoughts and prayers, thank the good lord my two children "aka adults" are both home and doing awesome!

Sorry for getting side tracked with my children, I know this is a garage journal and not Fake Book :ROFLMAO:

Enough of that ****! On a brighter note I had my 28th wedding anniversary Saturday, my amazing wife planned a secret trip for me and her, we left Friday and I had no idea where we were going? she just gave me directions as we drove. Well we ended up in Cammack Indiana at a restaurant called Cammack Station in Cammack Indiana, its just next to Muncie Indiana. I highly recommend putting this place on your list of must see's, I had the time of my life eating supper here and looking at everything! I already want to go back for another visit.

This has to be the most visible gas pumps and the most gas pump globes I have ever seen in one spot

If your ever in Indiana and are anywhere near Muncie this is a must see, its a first class, clean and great restaurant, not to mention the coolest atmosphere ever, I kind of imagine this is what it would be like for me to visit "The Big Party Garage".

Thanks to my awesome wife for a great wedding anniversary gift

You can visit their web page here. http://cammackstation.com/about-cammack-station/

BF, Happy Anniversary to you and your wife. After all those years it looks like your wife knows you well. That looks like a cool restaurant to spend an evening in and I bet you were drooling over all the collectibles as much as the food.

This guy always makes me smile, there was one in the intersection in front of my grandparents house when I was a little guy.

Jim

Thanks for the visit! I would love to find one of those guys for DaBarn to display! I had a great time, my wife always is thinking of other people and not herself, she has a servants heart ❤️

Don,

If you ever get to the Indy 500 again take an extra day there and I would love to meet you in Cammack for dinner at the Cammack Station, it was a great place to visit

Tony, first of all, Happy Anniversary! Second of all, what an amazing place -- I would forget to order food! Finally, I think you found my soulmate....
Girl of My Dreams.jpg

Showed my wife the Cammack Station photos.
Her response: "Road Trip!"

I like the Case eagles.

CONGRATULATIONS....
Looks like a great place to visit and Loookie-Loo.... :) :)

LynnW

Tony,
Cammack Station looks a really cool place!
When we are over in that area, we will have to go there.

Wow, Winter road trip coming up!! Thanks & Happy Anniversary!

Congratulations Tony! That really is a wonderland of eye candy. One of these days, maybe I can see it in person.

Gentlemen, thank you for all the anniversary well wishes. I have an awesome wife that takes great care of me, so no worries here!

Cammack Station is a must see on anyone's list, if any of you get near Cammack for a visit give me a holler, I'm not that far away and would love an excuse to visit the station again and hang out with any of you.

I received a very special parcel in the mail this week all the way from Russia, from Vladimir (Vieux).

02-X4.jpg

03-X4.jpg

I polished it and touched up some of the black paint, now its waiting for me to find a prominent place to hang it up in DaBarn! How cool is that!

Thanks Vladimir

Here's a link to his thread https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/very-small-garage-in-russia.235063/page-101#post-9276388

19-X4.jpg

I did pick up one new U.S. state license plate since my last update, so now I'm up to 24 different U.S. state license plates. "ONLY 26 TO GO" o_O

Decimal%20Chart-X4.jpg

I found a pretty cool decimal equivalent chart to hang up, its 11" x 16" made out of 1/4" poly and CNC precision cut, and hey its blue :D

02-X4.jpg

01-X4.jpg

Every year I collect a batch of hot peppers and then dry them out! Thanks to my neighbor Pat, he supplied me with two batches of a wide variety of hot peppers to dry this year 🌶️

03-X4.jpg

04-X4.jpg

After they are dried, I ran them through a small food processor to make my own shake to fill up my shaker jar. Its awesome to add just the right amount of heat to soups, beans or what ever I want to add another level of flavor to, this year I need to be careful as this batch of peppers are hotter than hell 😰 😰😰😰 :ROFLMAO:

Do you have an updated list of plates? I may some that you don't.

Billy

Billy,

Thanks for asking, I have all of these plates for my collection in green, plus Connecticut.

18-S.jpg

I also have five extra plates if anyone is needing one?

21-X4.jpg

Oh, I forgot. Nice Beetle

Thanks Billy! this was my father in laws Beetle, my wife and her dad enjoyed the passion for VW's and going to car shows together, we purchased it from her dad after he was in the late stages of Parkinson's disease, he has since passed and the Beetle holds a great deal of sentimental value for her

You can keep all those peppers for yourself (I don't do hot)
Nice score on the Russia plate . The bug looks to be in great condition. What caught my eye was those 3 candy/ gum machines. Those look special. I've started a collection of them now.

Tony,
The Beetle looks great!

Jon,

Thanks for the visit! The Beetle is the wife's baby, I'm just the babysitter :ROFLMAO:

Don,

I just love all of the vintage coin op machines of any kind, I have to be careful looking for them or I will end up bringing them all home, I have enough projects now to keep me busy until the end of time o_O

01-X4.jpg

I had the idea of repurposing some of the cans I usually throw away and turn them into some Flying A cans to display in DaBarn

02-X4.jpg

The cone top can sanded and primed.

03-X4.jpg

The black sprayed on.

04-X4.jpg

The red sprayed on.

05-X4.jpg

And the white.

06-X4.jpg

Waiting for clear coat and decals.

01-X4.jpg

Sanded down a one gallon can.

02-X4.jpg

Primed.

03-X4.jpg

Painted the top and the bottom silver and taped off some strips.

04-X4.jpg

Finished it off with some red, now its ready for some clear coat and decals.

08-X4.jpg

Ordered some decals for these cans.

01-X4.jpg

I also purchased a US Cutter MH 871-MK vinyl cutter, I will cut the letters to use on these cans to finish them off.

I know! I know! Like I needed another hobby o_O :ROFLMAO:

That's a great idea reworking nice shaped cans to build your flying "A" collection the decals you can get look great and will accent your work well. Looks like you have gathered quite a collection of Veedol products already.

Tony, as you know I have a soft spot for Beetles and your wife's, with the back story and family history is sweet.
I too look and lust after cans and candy machines, but I have a stamp machine and couple other projects to attend to first.
Enjoy the new hobby!

I like how your candy machines are empty but the liquor bottle and mixer are plenty full.
Priorities! Adult beverages only in DaBarn!

Don't you???

Billy

Boy its been a while since I have posted anything up on DaBarn thread, I had a great year at my day job so that has keep me busy and tired, I have yet to take the time to learn and use my new vinyl cutter. It will give me something to do inside when the snow starts flying outside ❄️

Yes, for some reason I like the Flying A brand logo, I did get another original Veedol grease can to display, I will try to finish off the cans I started to paint and post them up when finished.

I am very glad that the plate has finally come to you!

Vladimire

Thank you again for the Russian license plate, I have it proudly hanging up in my barn, I hope your family's health is doing better after all the covid issue's you guys had over there 🙏

I'm glad you liked the shots of Beetle, I'll be honest I'm not the biggest VW fan out there, but it is kind of fun to drive around 🐞

Great idea with the cans Tony, I have been looking at vinyl cutters but cant make up my mind on a model, now I have another reason to add to the list. Nice bug, I never got bit but still enjoy them.

Jim

I was never a big fan of the VW's either, but you know the old saying "happy wife, happy life", they are kinda like owning a Harley, everywhere you park them, they leave their mark 🤣 I need to get my but in gear and start using that vinyl cutter, it will be a fun winter project.

That comment made me laugh out loud, anytime your in my neck of the woods your always welcome to stop in for a cold one 🍻

Good to see I talked you into a vinyl cutter. You won't regret it!!:thumbup:

Homebody

I was excited to get this, but have yet to find the time to produce anything, I have been playing with the software some, I may be asking for some advise in the future if I run into any issue's :)

Great idea on can reuse. Bugs are cool, Crown…no words needed. 🤗

Shorty

I think you would be the kind of guy I would enjoy having a drink with and talking ****! Have you tried the Peach Crown yet? its pretty good! I will try to get some pictures up of the cans that I have been painting.

I have said it before "nothing ever happens too fast in DaBarn"

I received a very special gift in the mail this week from Don and Ann at The Big Party Garage and I was so excited, the only thing is I'm not sure what shot is my favorite? January's shot of the Mustang or July's shot of the Little Red Corvette? either way its proudly hanging up in The Little Party Garage (AKA DaBarn).

Thank you Don and Ann, I hope you have a wonderful holiday season 🎄
