Finally got around to posting the interior progress on DaBarn, Here is the southeast corner of the barn, I got the electrical panel mounted in the corner and hooked up to a feed running from the main panel located in my attached garage, I ran power to the south wall for a refrigerator and a desk with plenty of outlets for power, I also added power and a switch for a track light above the desk. I also ran a coax for a TV antenna and another one for a FM radio antenna, I also ran speaker wire for a 5.1 surround sound speaker system in the barn...

Here is a shot looking down along the east wall, I have a power outlet ran every eight feet, and I have all four walls studded and awaiting insulation. I also mounted the thermostat for the furnace on the east wall in the center six feet up...

I couldn't find a good shot of my ceiling so this one will have to do, I installed 12 light fixtures on the ceiling, four rows of 3 evenly spaced in the barn, the fixtures are just temporary until I decide what the permanent fixtures will be. You can also see I installed the track light for above the desk in the lower left side of the photo (I need all the light possible, the older I get the weaker my eyes become). :eyecrazy:

I didn't get to many pictures of the electrical work, but here is a shot of my service panel, I got plenty of room to add on in the future if need be...

Ran a 220 plug for the welder about centered on the east wall where I want to park my welding table...

I bought a Modine Hot Dawg 125,000 BTU propane furnace and mounted to the ceiling on the north end of the building in the center, I used some heavy duty angle iron attached to the trusses for mounting supports and hung it with threaded rods...Sorry for the bad cell phone picture...

Just another shot of the furnace installed and the exhaust ran out threw a wall thimble on the back side of the barn, once the 4" exhaust was hooked up I fired it up for a test run. It easily produces enough heat for the barn, I really like it but I think the blower is loud...

I made 2 trips to Home Depot and picked up 50 sheets of 1/2" OSB for the walls, 25 sheets per load...ouch! there went some Dinero :(

I was getting a little burnt out working on the barn at this point, I was sitting on that stack of OSB and my wife came in and asked me what I was doing? I told her I was thinking about how to insulate the barn, I wanted to spray foam it but I had no experience at it, well she talked me into having it hired out. It was almost a relief to let someone else handle it, I really didn't want to screw it up...

I contacted Momper Insulation out of Fort Wayne Indiana and got a estimate. I went with 1 1/2" spray urethane R-10 foam on all four walls and R-19 fiberglass batts then covered with visqueen..

One more shot, the east wall. I noticed a huge difference right away, When I walked in the barn it is so much quieter and it just felt air tight...

Nice Barn! Very nice! I'm envious!

The spray foam is well worth the cost in my opinion.

That closed cell foam will make a big difference, plus become an excellent sound deadening barrier. I utilized this with my rec-room two years ago, boy does it make a difference, warm it the winter, nice and cool in the summer.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my barn! The spray foam has made a huge difference! Its seems so air tight now and I can't believe how quiet it is inside now and the foam acts like a bonding agent gluing the whole barn together for added strength...

Great looking barn, I'm sure it'll come in useful!
Just off hand, how are you striping your yard? It looks pretty sweet also.;)

Homebody

Thanks for the compliments about the barn! As for my yard goes I use a Exmark Quest 24 hp with a 52" deck with NO striping kit on it, I mow my yard at 4" tall and mow it in the same pattern or direction every time. For maintenance on the grass I spray it twice a year with Trimec a broadleaf herbicide, I also fertilize it twice a year. I like to keep my mower blades sharp too.

Day number two of the insulation work, the same two guys from Momper returned to install the R-19 fiberglass batts, They worked really fast and done a nice job, just two complete days and they were in and out and done. Even though I had to lay down some pretty good Dinero for it, it turned out to be a nice break for me from working on the barn and I was really happy with the results. With living in northern Indiana I felt the insulation was a important step and I'm glad I was able to have the pros take care of it

I was not able to get to many shots of the batts being put up, but I do have a few good shots of the finished product, What a huge difference the insulation job has made! R-10 urethane foam with R-19 fiberglass batts and covered with visqueen, then I will be adding the 1/2" OSB, I should be able to heat DaBarn with a candle :D

Here is a shot looking down along the west wall, the insulation boys are gone and I was so happy with fact that a major hurdle was done in just two days and I didn't have to do any of the work ;) Now I hear that big stack of OSB calling my name

DaBarn is looking great. So you ended up with what, like R-30 walls? Tha's awesome! Wha's the plans for the ceilings? Also what are the temporary lights you're using

Sorta ot but your neighbors Boer goat operation, is that next to you, I am seeing a good sized barn in the earlier picture. I made some pretty good money in the early Boer and Kiko goat breeder market too. Breeder goats take a hell of a lot of maintenance to keep fit and healthy especially if you show them. Ask your neighbor if he has any "Victoria Farm" bloodlines.

That's exactly what I did for insulation after closed cell between the studs. You're going to enjoy the heating and cooling efficiency better then your house!

On the ceiling I plan to use galvanized corrugated steel for a vintage/rustic look, as for the temporary lights I went to Menards and picked up cheap plastic lamp holders and blue PVC boxes and tacked them to the trusses and for the bulbs I went with Sylvannia Super Saver 100 w replacement CFL's they only use 23w, I hope to reuse these bulbs in the permanent fixtures, when I figure out what they will be  I'm happy with how much light I have in the barn now. The only problem is these bulbs take a while to warm up when its cold
