Man you are MOVING!!! Tha's a lot of outlets to cut around.

BuickFamer

The OSB installation went really quick (with a little help from a old friend), I just had the one wall that was a pain, the rest was just trimming around the outlets.

That's looking great!
In hindsight I wish I had done my small shop with foam but I just don't remember seeing much about it 12 years ago.

Are you painting the OSB also or just the trim?

Homebody

I'm so glad I spent the time and money to insulate my barn so well, Northern Indiana has some really cold winters and I want to be able to go out there and work without freezing my tail off, I don't want to get cabin fever

I'm not going to paint my OSB, Personally I like the looks of it, even tho my barn is new I'm going for a bit of a vintage look on the inside and I have a lot of memorabilia to hang up, so it will cover most of it :) I have the trim in my basement now painting it a dark blue...

Wow, its pretty out there. I like farm country....

Beenman

Wow! someone all the way from South Africa checking out my little barn in Northern Indiana how cool is that! I do love this area (even tho its cold in the winter) my family has been in this area for generations. I really do enjoy taking care of my yard, its one of my hobbies and I have OCD so that's the reason for the nice straight lines in the grass :eyecrazy:

Thanks for checking out DaBarn, I don't have a Rotozip, I just marked all my plates off in pencil then drilled a 1/2" hole and cut them out with my jigsaw, it worked out well

I have been working on a little project lately, I will not be using the attic for storage, it is only a 4/12 pitch and I have OCD so I never save anything I'm not using (its a curse). I still wanted to have access to the attic for future wiring or lighting issues, so I came up with a cool access door, its 2'x4'.

I just used a 1/2" piece of plywood and painted it Chicago Bears orange, Home Depot has an exact match for those colors, then I covered it with a two part epoxy, it was my first time using this stuff and it turned out really good, You need a mini propane torch to get all the air bubbles out, its was a fun process, I did the door last fall when it was still warm outside.

Here I built a quick frame out of 2x4's and trimmed it out with the same trim that I picked up for my side walls, the blue is not the Chicago Bears blue but the blue I picked for the wall trim, hopefully no one will notice  Sorry for the bad cell phone pic, I will try to get my SLR out there for a better pic later.

Evolution%20Saw%201_zpsawi2cg14.jpg

Got a new toy, um I mean tool for the barn this week. I always had to take my steel into our shop at work to cut it. After reading several posts on metal chop saws here on The Garage Journal, I decided to go with the Evolution Rage 2, I put it to work right away, I needed to cut a bunch of 3/4" angle iron, it did a quick job of the angle iron, it was relatively quiet, there is almost no sparks and no smell like a fiber blade does. Overall I really like it. The clamps have a radius on the bottom and this caused the clamping jaw to slide up over small work pieces, but I will fix this myself. I got a great price on it threw Sears, its normally $344.99 but I got it on sale for $185.24 plus tax, This may not be the saw for a full time Fab shop, but it works awesome for my little hobbyist shop

I made several 45 degree cuts to make some frames out of the angle iron, there was little to no burrs and they fit together making a clean 90 degree angle :D

As I posted earlier I only had put up temporary lighting fixtures, I wasn't sure on what I was going to use? Well the company I work for had the entire building retrofitted with new t8 light fixtures. The back part of the building is used as storage space and had these light fixtures hanging up, I bet you can guess what happened next? (no i didn't steal them). I asked them and they gave them to me, and yes free of charge :bounce:

I went to our local Rural King and picked up some 1/2" x 3" pipe *******, some standard electrical boxes and some wire and went to work, got them all rewired. Now I have 12 lights in the barn but only got 10 of these fixtures, Oh well I will figure that one out later...These things are in mint shape they have been hanging in the shop since they were new.

Drywall%20Lift%201_zpsgcmk2cln.png

I have been trying to figure out the best way to put the steel up on my ceiling a lift, scaffolding of just man handle the panels into place. After much consideration I went with a drywall lift, My son Cody gave me the idea, He actually used one on a barn he built for a friend a couple of years ago and he said it worked out well for him. So I ordered this lift, it's a 15' lift, needed to raise the panels up to a 12' ceiling. I got it for $185.00 with free shipping...

That lift should make easy work of the ceiling!

What type of 2 part epoxy did you use on the door? Been wanting to try that on some things.

and I thought I scored well on my lights, but you can't beat FREE!!!! congrats!!!
Can't wait to see that lift in action. How long are your panels? Is it a flat ceiling or vaulted. I take it your son is going to also provide some OJT in how to use the thing.

Man, nice job on all of it. I hate you, there are straight walls and wood things that you can attach stuff to.:lol_hitti

That vise is a great find and I love the lights and sign you made.

Thanks for checking back in! Yeah I was so excited to get those lights and for free...I will be two short tho, but I will work that out later. My ceiling is flat, sometimes I wish I would have put up scissor trusses, but having it flat works out well for me, especially with a 12' ceiling, I should be fine...My barn is 40' long so I went with two 12' and a 16' panel to span the length of the barn. I will put the 16' panel in the center with the two 12 footers on each end

Thanks for checking back in! I'm still waiting on you to send me that belt sander  I really like the look of those stone walls in your shop! But I have a large collection of vintage gas and oil items along with some vintage coin operated vending machines and Chicago Bears signs that I can't wait to display out in DaBarn, right now they are just sitting in storage in my basement :willy_nil I did get a pretty sweet deal on that vise and it cleaned up well

Thanks for checking in! I can't remember the brand name of the epoxy I used, just google "clear epoxy resin for bar tops" There is a ton of manufactures out there making it, I bought it two years ago to use it on a set of corn hole boards I made, boy that was a big mistake!!! The bean bags actually gained speed when sliding up the board, But dang they sure look good

My lovely wife got me a early birthday present for DaBarn, she couldn't wait until my birthday and gave it to me, its a water jet cut out made of heavy gauge steel, its 33" wide by 22" tall...this will need a prominent place in DaBarn

Just found this thread. The only problem with this barn is it's one road too far south. lol. It needs to be in my back yard! Been on this forum for quite awhile and didn't know anyone else from Kendallville was on it let alone posting. I've gotten a lot of great ideas from here. Would make a great place for my racing karts! Great job!!

Da Bears are not going to resign Forte. Now they dont even have a running back!

donnie

Thanks for taking the time to check out DaBarn, I was really impressed with Jeremy Langford this year, I think he could be a real good starting back for the Bears, The biggest problem with the Bears for the last seven years is Jay Cutler :(

As I mentioned earlier I had a birthday this week and my wife had that cool Chicago Bears sign made for me! Well this past Wednesday was my actual birthday and when I got home from work my son Cody had my grill fired up with some pork ribs and chicken legs on it and he brought over a twelve pack of my favorite beer, "Landshark" My wife even invited a couple of my good friends over...What a great day!

I haven't had to many new post lately, I have been working on getting my ceiling panels up. I had to order the panels from Menards due to the length (12 and 16 footers).

The drywall jack I purchased is working out fantastic for raising the panels into place, The panels are real light, but pretty long. The drywall jack has made this a easy one man job, except for all the trips up the ladder

I got over to the first light, I will install each light as I get the panels up to them. I'm mounting the electrical box directly to the trusses and will drill a hole in the panel to connect the light to the junction box...
