Congrats you're moving along quite well. See that snow blizzard picture makes me glad to be in hot Florida.

Making good progress on the ceiling, the panels I got from Menards are really thin so the seams are not going together perfect and they dint very easy, but its okay! I'm going for a bit of that vintage look...but its getting pretty bright in here for that vintage look
yaidunno of Fox Valley Fabrication ran into the same issue with the thin ceiling panels from Menards but he was smart enough to return them and find something better, read his post #88 for more info...

Wow, that does looks really good. Definitely increases the lighting fixtures brightness tremendously! Very sharpe looking K5 in the one photo.

Here's a tip on knocking the shine of the galvanized J-channel. I used Super Clean (purple bottle) to etch the metal and make it look old. See post
If you choose this route, use could use a sponge to apply it along the edges and garden sprayer in center. Cover those lights though!!! You will need to raise off. Misting a baking soda and water solution should neutralize the Super Clean without creating a huge mess.

DaBarn is coming along pretty good, I had a great birthday week and the weather here as been really good for February in Indiana, I feel more compelled to get out and work on the barn when its not sub zero

Yeah sometimes I wish I was in Florida in the winter too, I really lucked out on those lights and it was perfect timing too, I will dig out some pics of my Blazer and post them up here...

Yeah my original plan was to blow the attic in with insulation, I kinda wish I would of put bats on the ceiling now. Not sure if I will get to it until this summer

Good eye on the K5 Blazer...I will post some pics of it soon, I really like my Ceiling (even though the panels are pretty thin) and the lights are great but I'm thinking about changing out the light bulbs already, I have 23 watt, soft white CFL's in them now and it seems to have that orange glow to them

To answer your question on the drywall jack, the head does swivel allowing you to put panels on the wall or a angled ceiling if you would like. It was a great purchase and saved a lot time and I didn't have to man handle the panels up to a twelve foot ceiling

The longest panel I had on it was 16 footers, and it was no problem at all with my lift, because with the extensions all the way out, it had a wing span of around 9 feet. With 23' panels you may need two lifts?
But using a drywall jack to put your steel up on the ceiling is absolutely the way to go
I need to quit getting so many new ideas off The Garage Journal and try to finish up some I already got started, Sometimes I think I have a touch of ADD, It doesn't take long for me to be working on one thing when I find myself looking at something else

Thanks for the complements on the ceiling and want to get some better pics up as soon as I get it finished, I'm having trouble getting good pictures of it with the lights being so bright "over exposure"? I'm just a amateur when it comes to photography...

I had a couple of members ask me about my Blazer, I thought I would give you the history of this truck.
It was originally purchased here in my home town, brand new from the local Chevrolet dealer, Parker Nivens Chevrolet in Kendallville on 10-10-1980. It was bought by a couple of men here locally that wanted to start a natural disaster response organization. They were a non for profit organization and affiliated with the local police department, Their goal was to build a special response team to help out in case of blizzards, tornadoes and floods, They actually purchased two vehicles and a building on the south side of town to work out of.
They stayed together and completed their goal, but unfortunately disband and shut the whole operation down before the 90's arrived. Since it was a non for profit and for unknown other reasons when they disband they just closed the door locked it up and left as it set that day in time.
Now spring ahead to 2005, A local business man in the area owned several buildings around this one and was really interested in purchasing the property, mean time the last living member of the organization had passed away and left the entire organization to the kids, Well they struck a deal with the business man that wanted to buy the building and sold it, just by chance I new one of the kids and got to talking to them and he told me they needed to get the building cleaned out because it sold.
Well this is where I came in
I went down there and managed to purchase one of the trucks, the other one the family decided to keep.
Well after only about 15 minutes of negotiations I was the proud owner of a all original 1980 K5 Chevy blazer that only had 13,300 original miles on it and spent most of its life sitting inside a clean building, All I had to do was put a new battery in it and some gas and it fired up and purred like a kitten.
I drove it home washed and waxed it then did a full service on all the fluids. I did tear off a junk home made brush guard and a home made hitch that was on it, That was it and its what you now see below in this photo taken in 2006. It still had the original tires on it. Oh yeah I almost forgot to tell you the best part I only had to pay $2600.00 for it

I owned it for a couple of years before I decided to do some work to it, First I installed a Rough Country 4" lift kit with four new springs and four new nitrogen filled shocks, And I had to install a new steering arm and a new set of steering stabilizer shocks.
Then I added a set of Toyo tires that are 33" x 12.5" x 20" and I mounted them on a set of KMC XD wheels that are 20" x 10", I also put on some chrome tow hooks and some chrome differential covers with a new Reese hitch and chrome D-ring.

Great story! That certainly is mind blowing to find a gem like that, basically all original with 13k on the clock. I would of assumed it was a complete restoration job. I like all the modifications you've done, and kept it a clean look.

No I did not restore the body or paint its the same today as the day I bought it, the only thing on the body I changed was the tailgate emblem. This is a true barn find, not a bit of rust any where, Someone removed the painted lettering off the lower part of the doors and did a bad job at matching the paint and there is a dent above the right rear tire on the rear qaurter that someone tried to repair but its not to smooth, You can see that dent in the picture on post #231. The under carriage on it is clean enough to eat off of

Had to say goodbye to an old friend this past week, My 1998 Kawasaki KX 250. I bought it twelve years ago for $1500.00 off a old friend and sold it on Craigslist last week for $1400.00 I even took a picture of it going down the road with its new owner as I wiped a tear from my eye I just turned 52 last week and I got a bad back now. I had issues just lifting it off the bike stand alone riding it anymore. I used to race these things as a teenager and the rush never leaves you, even when age catches up with you. Last fall I even dislocated my toe on the damn thing as you can see in the pictures below. Sad, but now I got cash in hand to spend on DaBarn, Hey did someone say shopping spree

Got all my ceiling panels up and a lot of the trim installed, I still need to paint some more of the trim (I don't like painting). I still need to get some better pictures of the ceiling, but I'm not getting any that look very good yet? So till then I'm hanging up some of the items that I have had for a while, Most of witch have been stored in my basement for a long time now.
My wife and I were at an auction two summers ago and I bought and old kitchen cabinet for seven dollars, I wanted to restore it but my wife thought the old yellow paint gave it some great patina, so I left it alone and just cleaned it up. I hung it on the wall and converted it into the Barns hardware store. I did order some decals online to dress it up a bit. I was able to display a few of my two gallon oil cans and my collection of one pound grease cans on top, then I hung up one of my vintage candy machines that I collect, its a 1930 King Candy Vedor 5 cent candy bar machine.
