Yeah! those are Anderson pretzel and peanut jars, I get them from the local Rural King store for $4.99, I always have one or two in the Barn to snack on while I'm out there and they go great with beer, Also the grand daughter loves to come out there and eat my snacks, Oh yeah they make awesome storage jars too

I got a great job and it allows me to travel around the four county area in northeast Indiana a lot, I have been a GJ member for a long time now and it always has me thinking about my barn and all the other garages I see out there while out and about, I always like the old stuff the best and I found this one and wanted to stop and get some photo's of it for a while now, so I stopped today and snapped a few pics, I just love the old architectural details added on the garages of days gone by...

Thanks for the complements, I have had the Blazer for a while now and finally got it finished, except maybe a new paint job in the future but I'm satisfied with it for now, it sure is a blast driving it around here in the summer with the top off of it

I finished off the southwest corner of the barn with a few of the items from my collection and a shelf I made out of cherry.

A couple of shots of the southwest corner of "DaBarn"

This is a A. O. Smith model 483 gas pump, A Champion spark plug cabinet and a all original Gamewell fire box.

My little collection of vintage Nitro fuel additive cans.

You can actually see part of my finished ceiling in this pic, I still need to get up a few good pics of it yet.

I wanted to show a close up of the old large gauge I hung up in the southwest corner of the barn. I got it from a local excavating company that was hired to remove a old 10,000 gallon buried fuel oil tank from a factory in Ligonier Indiana that had switched over to natural gas many years ago and the tank just sat idle, The gauge determined how much fuel oil was in the tank, I just thought it looked cool hanging in the barn.

Thanks for checking in! I got lucky on the Gamewell firebox, I found it stashed away in a mans basement, where it was for years and purchased it for only $50.00 I do believe its all original including the paint, When I got it home all I did was hand rub it out with some carnauba wax.

When I started my barn build the lovely Mrs Bear bought me a mini fridge for DaBarn I didn't like having it sit on the floor (to far down to reach a beer) so I decided to build a stand for it, Which I have some pictures of it below, And about the same time I knew I wanted a desk, but I didn't want to buy a big bulky thing, so I set out to make my own. I didn't get pictures of the desk build, but I did of the top I done for it. Check them both out below...


The feet and leg levelers welded up. I used 2" x 2" steel 3/16 thick on both projects.

Of course I have to show off one of the welds

Here is the fridge, surround sound and sub woofer stand all done, minus paint

Here is the desktop, I just picked up a 2' x 4' pine panel from Home Depot. I aged it with a ball peen hammer and a screw diver and a few other things that I threw at it, Then I put on three coats of dark walnut stain, then after the third coat dried I lightly sanded it a bit...

A new panel that I tried to make look old...

Here's the desktop after three coats of polyurethane...

Here's the desk sitting in the southeast corner and completed, I used a Ford blue oil base enamel on the base and trimmed the desktop out with some one inch powder coated steel with some brass screws to finish it out...

I added two of my favorite peanut vending machines. The one on the left is a 1933 Northwestern 1 cent vendor, the one on the right is a 1936 Northwestern Deluxe Peanut machine and in the center I made my own paper towel holder from black pipe fittings and had it powder coated...

I picked up some Kobalt stools on sale at Lowe's, but they were to tall so I cut four inches off the legs, its now a perfect fit, And of course I got The Garage Journal up on the laptop

I added a Racor can rack to the side to store all my lubricants

The fridge is a perfect fit, I added a vintage bottle opener to the front side of the fridge stand for easy access Oh yeah by the way the Onkyo 5.1 surround sound rocks the barn. I also hung up a 1940's Star candy bar vending machine next to the fridge...

I just turned down some Delron on the lathe into some large fender style washers and I can tighten it all up with the pipe cap on the end, it worked out real nice

I had a local man in Shipshewana Indiana build me a poly pub style table and two matching chairs for DaBarn, They are really comfortable and great place to hang out to watch my favorite games

Had a great day yesterday! Mrs Bear and I took a Friday off of work for a date day Seems like life always gets in the way and sometimes you just need a little time off. Well we ended up going junking (that's what the wife calls going antiquing), and I ended up with a few new treasures

A new 1 pound grease can and two new cone top outboard oil cans for the collection and a really cool 60's era napkin holder that I will sit on the pub table in DaBarn. I was a happy camper yesterday

The wife had a good point....where in the hell will we find oval shaped napkins

I picked up this vintage cast iron paper roll dispenser, I told the wife that I wanted to cut it down and use it for a paper towel dispenser in the barn (that was the cover story). What I really picked it up for was to add it to her birthday present that I have been working on for her, More on that project later

Thought I would give an update of some of the work going on in the barn...well more fun then work, I got a few more things hung up and set out in the southeast corner of the barn, I like to call it the command center.

I picked up a old still from a customers house that I was at a couple of years ago for $40.00, I just washed it up with some soap and water as not to ruin the patina, but the coil was not what I wanted so I made my own. It turned into a fun project, I made the corner shelf for it and finally got it up

This is how it looked before cleaning it up...

Here is the coil bent, I did a online search on how to bend copper without crimping it. I filled the tube with water and froze it in the freezer in the house, after sitting in there for 24 hours I took it out to the barn and bent it around a piece of four inch pipe, it worked out perfect!

This is what it looked like mounted onto the still after I soldered on the original fitting to the coil...

Of course the copper was way to shinny for me so I went back to the internet and found a mixture to age the copper, It is a mixture of salt, vinegar and ammonia. I put the coil in a plastic bag and sprayed it down for three days. It turned out really good
