I wanted to post my welding bench, I didn't get any pictures of the bench build, but later on I added a pegboard back to it and got some pics of that. The bench is made of 2" x 2" x 3/16 wall thickness steel, the pegboard frame is 1" x 1" square tube.

Welding%20table%202%20Custom_zpsbydj3255.jpg

I painted the frame to match the bench.

Welding%20table%205%20Custom_zpsu82fdxz2.jpg

I found this chrome diamond plate pegboard online, made by DaimondLife.

Welding%20table%209%20Custom_zpsrgsomm85.jpg

Of course being a member of The Garage Journal I had to put on a Wilton

Welding%20table%2033%20Custom_zpsetggkrov.jpg

On the other end I put on a Bessey corner vise.

Welding%20table%2035%20Custom_zpsi32tkvfv.jpg

I highly recommend one of these vises to anyone who doesn't have one, they are great and make it simple to get a perfect 90 degree corner.

Welding%20table%2031%20Custom_zpswx4jcmzf.jpg

This is how it looks now, I wanted a good place to organize all my clamps :)

I thought I would post some picture of my progress on the barn, Got the welding table finished and have been working on the east wall to get some shelves hung and some more of my memorabilia up...Hope you like it!

A shot of my new welding area...

Tester%20052%20Custom_zpsqq7wvndt.jpg

Another angle of the finished table...

02_zpsotgxaz2f.jpg

One of my favorite pieces is the ECO air meter, I got it rewired with the original light socket. And plans are to repaint it at some point down the road, But I'm not in a big hurry for it...

03_zpsc62shdrn.jpg

Got a few shots of some of the vintage oil cans that I have collected over the years, the first is some one quart cone top two cycle oil cans, I love the graphics on these cans...

04_zpsat3tcfp1.jpg

Here is a shot of my collection of vintage tube repair kits, They were items given out by companies as advertisement, I recently built the shelves, but I still need to tear them down and get them out for powder coating...

Tester%20053%20Custom_zps5y3zmowo.jpg

And the last shot is of my little collection of four ounce oil cans, also given out by companies as advertising pieces...

I thought I would introduce DaBarn's mascot...His name is Walter! Named after the late, great Walter Payton, My lovely wife had this carved for me as a Christmas gift about 12 years ago by a local chainsaw artist and she even named him, He's been hanging out with me ever since. He never shits or pukes on the floor and he is always happy to see me

Man o man, you have been having some more fun haven't you. The welding table is awesome and the command center too. Glad to see you having such a great time there. Hopefully some day I can start selecting and displaying stuff. But for me it just still seems a case of never arriving, just always getting there. You my friend are there and it looks awesome. All you need now is a rubber dispenser and seeing how you are accumulatin stuff wouldn't be surprised to see one of them appear.
Have fun garage brother, you deserve it!!!

The place is coming along very nicely and I love the bench. I have been tempted by the Bessey corner clamps for a while and may have to get one soon. Your wife is pretty amazing to have the sculpture done for you. Not sure about the "always happy to see me" part. He looks like a rather stoic fellow.

Thanks for checking in! Funny you said that because I have been searching for a vintage condom machine for some time now...I do own a vintage Kotex machine already, It still has some of the original product inside, I was wanting to restore before I hang it up tho :)

Thanks for stopping and for the complements! I have really been enjoying the barn lately, we had some awesome weather here and I spent the entire weekend playing in the barn, The Eco air meter might be one of my favorites in my collection, I also like the mechanics of the old vintage vending machines

Thanks for coming by! I highly recommend a good corner vise, they really are great for easy and square 90 degree angles. I'm also really happy with how my welding bench came out :) Walter is always happy to see me, he just hates having his picture taken

Wow you been busy since I last checked the page. Ran into Mrs. Bear at Wal Mart Friday and she said you figured it out. I'm going to have to get over there and check it out in person! Looks like a great place to work.

Thanks for checking in! Yeah would of been cool to add a #34 to it but I will leave it alone because I would probably screw it up, I do have a small collection of Walter Payton items that I might display in Dabarn later on...

Yeah Mrs Bear said she ran into you, stop over anytime, We can do a shot and check out DaBarn, I would like to take a look at your race Karts too. Saw you at the end of the road this week working that wreck, man there is a ton of wrecks at that intersection...

I needed some more shelves to display some more of my two gallon oil cans, I saw this shelf before online so I decided to make one, I had some two inch gauges saved back and another piece of cherry wood left over, and this is what I came up with. I still need to tear it back down and get the steel out to powder coat...

I'm really not into doing new product reviews, But I went to the local Do It Center Friday for a couple of screws and walked out with this Channellock roller stand, I was really impressed with it, I always liked and used Channellock pliers and thought they were always some of the best on the market, so I said what the hell...A real nice stand and was well priced at $34.99.

phone%20072-X4.jpg

It has two different rollers on it and you can switch back and fourth with
ease.

phone%20075-X4.jpg

It extends up to 43" and supports up to 250 Lbs. and this thing is really well built and priced right...

phone%20082-X4.jpg

It folds up with ease and hey I really like the Channellock blue

I have wanted to build some cool looking roller stands for a long time now, but I never seem to have the time for that, I'm really glad I found this and may pick up another one later on, It is well constructed and well priced, I don't usually get this excited about new stuff, but this is a must have on your wish list :)

Last Saturday our local school corporation had a surplus auction, they had some of the old shop tools for sale in it, and everything in between. I decided to go and see if I could pick anything up, I think I got a little carried away

I picked up a nice 120 volt Delta 14" bandsaw for $165.00, model #28-200.

camera%20145%20Custom_zpssjsjdqiu.jpg

I got a Delta Drill press for $185.00, I can't find the model number on it? It has the original 220 volt motor, It has an original Delta light on it. I might convert it over to 120 volts at some point?

I managed to pick up a Sears belt sander for $90.00, Model 113.225993, its 120 volt and is in good condition, I got no belts with it.

All great finds !!
I think I have the same belt sander as you picked up. 10" disk and 6x48 belt. I only ended up with mine because I was buying a tablesaw at a garage sale and the seller insisted they go as a set. I've upgraded my tablesaw since then, but it still amazes me how much I use the sander. They're very handy!! Mine has a dust collector chute at the back of the 6x48 belt, but I've seen people make one out of a 4" pvc cut in half to.
Did you try it? From the pictures it looks like its missing the yellow safety key that goes in the switch.

I'm jealous of the shop class stools and the urinal to!

Wow, these are really nice. My dad use to have some of these tins in the garage....

Beenman

Thanks for checking in, I really like the graphics on all the old oil cans, they are fun to collect and not super expensive.

BF that's a great stand, we don't get a big range of Channelock stuff out here like you guys.

Top job on the gauges.

Regards

1/2 Cup

I really like the Channellock stand and all their pliers and channel locks, A company that seems to build tools right...

I really liked how the gauge shelf turned out, I still need to get it powder coated, I stole the idea off Pintrest, Yes I have a Pintrest account :bounce: my wife turned me onto it, I get a lot of cool ideas off of it

Awesome you are checking out my barn, I don't have the safety key for the belt sander, but the cord just plugs into the switch so all I did was plug a drop cord into it and it did run, but seemed to be a little sluggish, the school did let this stuff sit outside in the rain for a bit, I will probably just wire up a standard light style switch to it. I will need to tear into it to see whats up... The shop stools were a great buy

You done good!

JC23

Thanks for stopping by, I got really excited with all my auction finds, I can't wait to tear into them, they are in great condition, but have been sitting for a while without any maintenance...

Had a little paid job this week, This fire pit has a tile top on it and some of the tiles were coming off around the edge, so I picked up some angle iron and made up a protective frame for the top to keep the tiles from being knocked off.

new%20098%20Custom_zps9csryikq.jpg

Mrs Bear was wanting to help out :)

new%20085%20Custom_zpsb5u56lmx.jpg

Sent the frame out for powder coating, he had a quick turn around and done a great job, Man I love powder coating :rocker: The fire pit turned out nice and this will keep all the tiles around the edge in place...

The prices were pretty decent at the auction, but wow I got to be careful and stay away from those things, I will fill up the barn and won't be able to walk threw it

It is a pretty cool looking fire pit and the guy was real happy on how it turned out for him, that frame with the powder coat on it will now out last the rest of it :)

I decided to make my wife her birthday present this year, She is into crafting and making cards, so she has a lot of supplies for her hobby, I decided to make her a rack to store the supplies. I started out at Walmart and picked up a twelve plastic containers, I had to go to two different Walmart's to get twelve containers that matched...

03%20Custom_zps6ztklntl.jpg

I had to cut 48 pieces of 3/4" angle iron on a 45 degree angle...

02%20Custom_zps5bdwnihc.jpg

Then I had to weld up all twelve frames, It went quick and easy with my corner vise, this vise is awesome and it makes it really easy to get things square...

04%20Custom_zps76msbttu.jpg

I cut some 1" square tubing for the rest of the frame and got all the shelf frames welded together, just have to sand it all down and get it out to the powder coater...

05%20Custom_zpsopccm3cv.jpg

06%20Custom_zpshdrtc8i0.jpg

While the frame is out for powder coating, I made a top out of 3/4" plywood for it and then primed and painted it a turquoise color to match the handles on the plastic tubs...

07%20Custom_zpsk6wzi9io.jpg

08%20Custom_zps60acr4tu.jpg

I cut twelve shelves out of 3/4" plywood and got them primed and painted...

09%20Custom_zpss0w8rqfk.jpg

Got the frame back from the powder coater and it turned out perfect, I really love powder coating, and I got the top shelf mounted on...

10%20Custom_zps1tznylqp.jpg

Got all the shelves installed, I really like the gloss black and turquoise together...

Wow I'm really happy with how it turned out, I think it is one of the coolest pieces I have made in the barn, lets just hope she likes it as much :)
