Thanks for the compliments! I was just playing around with photoshop, I'm not really going to put anything on those propane tanks I might put up a small vinyl fence along the front side of them just to dress it up a little bit.

I worked in two different body shops right out of high school and my dad had his own body shop for 14 years, so I grew up around this kind of work and would like to do more of it when I retire, right now its just a hobby for my own stuff...my day job keeps me busy

Scored a Gasboy gas pump this week at a old farm, its a small pump used on farms around here, its is in decent shape, I need to replace the glass on the front and try to find a new numbers dial for it, its all complete and the steel is in good shape and I got it for a great price

Had a interesting job this week, Had to climb a 80' tower to replace a BEC LTE 6800 radio for a rural customer that we provide internet service to, the radio is about 20' from the top so I only had to hoof it up the tower about 60', Thought I would post some photos I shot while I was up there, I even took the time to text a few pictures to my wife

Neat pics from up there on the tower, me, I get a little nervy at heights, even when strapped in a basket with a harness. If I were to take pics the trees would be that blurred you would think a hurricane would be blowing...

Oh, and good job on the candy machine..

I actually enjoy doing some of our tower climbs, But because of some very expensive climber insurance I'm limited on what I climb, I just climb some of the shorter towers and all the grain legs that we have equipment on, as for the big 200' towers I'm not allowed to go up on those, But I don't think I would want to anyway

I got started on the Beaver Stand for the Sun Peanut machine I just restored, I got some shots of the tear down and restore work being done on it as I went along...

This is what I started with, I picked it up a couple of years ago and its been sitting in my basement ever since. I found a manufacturer date on it 1962.

Got the beaver off without any damage Lucky they drilled the holes for the rivets all the way threw, I just tapped them out with a small pin punch

It cleaned up pretty good on the wire wheel, I will need to do a little more cleaning to them, then I will clear coat them, I will paint the base black so they should really pop...

I cut down the piece of plywood that was on it to match the bottom of the peanut machine, This will allow me to mate the stand to the peanut machine so its not metal on metal.

I sandblasted the base and discovered some pitting in the casting, this paint blasted off really hard.

I patched all the pits with JB weld and sanded it all down after it dried, it turned out really smooth

I got all the parts finished and ready for primer, but it is way to hot and humid here to paint anything outside, so it will have to wait! I took the chrome legs down to a re-chrome shop in Fort Wayne but they wanted $250.00 to re-chrome them, so I cleaned them with SOS pads and put a coat of wax on them, That's way too much money to spend on this project

Back to the propane tanks. That's a lot of gas. I delivered LP for a year and around here a 250 gal tank is big and a 500 gal. rare. Joys of cold country I guess.

That picture made me laugh out loud It does get cold up here in northeast Indiana with the lake effect weather coming off Lake Michigan and the jet stream that usually comes threw here from the northwest that brings down cold weather from Canada, but I really handle the cold weather more so then the hot humid stuff

Your picture left a lasting impression and today I came across the all-time winner in this category at a Goodwill thrift store. At first I thought I'd buy it until I noticed the two-piece table. I don't know what the owner was cutting but I think even I would have noticed the sound as I cut throught the aluminum web.

I have not posted anything for a while, I have been working in the Barn on some projects, but just stopped posting my progress, no excuses! but we have had a lot of hot and humid weather and I really haven't felt like posting anything! Well today I had a fellow Garage Journal member stop by and give me a kick in the pants...so I will try to update some of the things I have been working on in DaBarn

When I stopped posting I was finishing up restoring the Sun gumball machine and started working on the Beaver stand for it, well I got the Sun candy machine and the Beaver stand finished. I like how it turned out, but I'm thinking about changing the color of the stand to match the color of the Sun candy machine?
I also picked up a really cool Great Bear water bottle and the original crate that it was in and placed it next to the finished Sun Gumball machine in DaBarn

Earlier this spring I picked up a vintage fire extinguisher and I needed a way to hang it in DaBarn, so I made a little "L" bracket for it and painted it flat black then mounted it to the wall for the fire extinguisher to rest on, then I added a safety chain on the top to keep it from tipping over and falling off the stand. I gave the fire extinguisher a coat of automotive wax to help prevent the cooper from tarnishing (it has been really humid here this summer), I think it turned out pretty good

If you have been following along I started a parking meter stand display for DaBarn. I have been working on the stand for the parking meter for a while now, I got the stand completed. I had to do a lot of work on the casting that I used for a base to make it smooth and then I decided to do a little experiment, I had a can of paintable undercoating and sprayed it on the stand, It turned out to have a really cool looking texture to it, but it was flat black so I painted it a gloss black and shot it with some clear coat to finish it off, I was really happy with how it turned out

Here it is sitting in DaBarn, Now I need to finish the Parking meter and the fine box for it

Thanks for the complements on my projects, its always a joy seeing your organizational skills in your garage!!!

As for my neighbors barn he hired a crew of Amish brothers from Grabill Indiana to put his barn up and they did it all in just three days, minus the cement work, that took another day to complete. It was awesome watching these six brothers work, they done a awesome job, the craftsmanship was second to none. In fact I hired them to come back and put a new metal roof on my house, the current roof on my house is going on nineteens years old and the south side is really getting rough. The new barn is 30' x 40' with 14' sidewalls and a 10' porch along the entire east side. I did help him out with some of the electrical work.

I picked up a really cool nostalgic piece for DaBarn today, A Bayer aspirin vending machine, I have been looking for one of these for a while, this one is in great condition, it just has a few scratches. All I did to it was put on a coat of automotive wax and hang it. Now I will need to find some of the old metal aspirin cases that was used in this machine.

I see things are moving along quite well. The Extinguisher is awusome What a shine. I hadn't thought of mounting one from the bottom. Great idea.
