I had an attempt to comment on your clamp and castors a couple of days ago, but my dodgy internet let me down at a critical moment and the whole post was lost.

BTW - I love the clamp (I want one), and I agree with the concept of bolting the castors on (although I know that I would take the easy way out and put a spot of weld in the bolt holes ).

I had got in The Garage Journal 10th Annual Secret Santa gift exchange and I received two sets of clamps from Garage Journal member racingtadpole all the way from Australia, How cool is that! Well I stopped this week and picked up some 1" x 1 1/2" bar stock from my local steel supplier, now all I have left to do is figure out the hole spacing and drill the holes and I will have two nice 48" long bar clamps

It would seem to me that your hole spacing would equal to the stroke of the screw. So if the screw, or the moving clamp moves a total of 5" then your hole pitch should be 5". Nice lookingsetup

those Dawn clamps are OMG COOL and look like they will hold a truck frame straight if you need them to.

I got a little behind on my replies, so I just thought I would hit them all up at one time

I really like how the hardware cabinet turned out, it’s nice to have it finished and the casters on...it rolls easy around the barn. I'm thinking I will build a cabinet on the right side with a door on it to house all my drill bits and such. I found this photo online similar to what I want mine to look like

The bar clamps I received in The Garage Journal Secret Santa gift exchange are awesome and very well made! I'm glad I was able to select the length of the bar myself, this allowed me to go with 48" length, I only have two clamps that length..."One can never have too many clamps"

And now on to my dad! He is 76 years old and suffered a Hemorrhagic stroke on the right side of his brain. They now have the bleeding under control, he is out of the ICU unit and is currently in a rehab facility, he also developed a blood clot in his left arm. I spent the evening with him last night and he has shown some good signs of improvement in just a week and a half. The intense pain in his head has subsided some and the swelling in his left arm has went down and it’s not as painful as it once was, they have him doing up to three hours of physical therapy a day, he can't see out of his left eye now and can't walk on his own, it will be a long road to recovery, but the good thing is he still seems to have all his memory there...

Where my dads rehab facility is located there is a Harbor Freight store just down the road! So I scored some coupons and went shopping The store is pretty far from my house so I rarely go there...

I picked up this 700# rated hand cart for only $39.98 with a coupon and it is blue! I like blue . Seems to be pretty well built and priced right.

I went a little crazy in the store, but I came out with some decent quality tools at some great prices...

I scored four 11" swivel pad locking pliers for only $3.99 each with a coupon. They are Pittsburgh brand and seem to be pretty well built and come with a lifetime guarantee, the only thing I could see wrong with them was the plating seemed to be a little thin, but for only $3.99 a pair, I'll give them two thumbs up

I needed some small tap handles as I only have one now! because I lost the others I got this set of three t-handle tap wrench's for only $8.99. I don't see a manufactures name on them, but I was surprised at the quality when I pulled them out of the package

I picked up a package of 10 cut off wheels for my 4 1/2" grinder for only $5.99...

I never had a set of mig welder pliers, so I picked up this set for $9.59 with coupon, these seem to be pretty decent quality and will last me a lifetime...

I also picked up a set of mechanics gloves while I was there, I worn the fingers out of my old pair

I picked up a 28 piece Pittsburgh transfer punch set for $10.99, I had no coupon for it

I also got a set of Pittsburgh 1/4" stamp set for $14.99, I had no coupon for that either

I think the Pittsburgh brand of tools that Harbor Freight sells seems to be of pretty good quality and the prices are cheap

BF: i'm hoping your DAD gets back to 100% again soon, but any improvement is great. my dad at 83 fell and broke his hip 2 years ago and he's still sitting in a wheelchair my mom bought him cause his hip replacement and knee replacement surgeries didn't go as well as his other replacement 15 years ago when he was playing golf 6 weeks later. getting old ain't for sissies, but at least my dad isn't so spacey now and he doesn't look at me like he's in a fog so improvements at an old age are possible.

funny you went into a HF store with all your cool vintage stuff cause it kind of gives me the WILLIES when i walk into one. i did buy a propane torch burner for $30 that is a helluva tool and i think i'm going on my 3rd BBQ size tank and it's still starting fires (FYI always have a hose handy and turned on close by).

hope you love all that cool new bling and even though i get a lot of Pittsburgh tools that i don't really use or keep they do seem to be useful so all the best with your new sets.

BF, I'm glad to hear your Dad is doing better. It hits home because I turn 74 later this year. Most of my friends stopped calling a few years ago. We have caller ID so I answer their call with "is everything all right?"

I don't always buy Harbor Freight tools but I always check to see if they have what I'm looking for at a reasonable price. For example, I buy their 5-foot whips for my air tools. At $5.99 without a coupon, it doesn't bother me if they spring a leak. Everywhere else they are $15 and up with no guarantee they won't spring a leak either. I also buy HF tools for the workshop so I don't have to walk 100 feet to the garage when I need a wrench, socket or pliers.

Mom had a stroke last fall and has made an amazing recovery. I'd say 95% or more. She'll be 80 in April, now she's using the "I've had a stroke, you know" defense, excuse, sympathy card to her advantage since!
Hoping your Dad does as well as Mom has.

Holy **** guys! I can't believe how long its been since I added to my thread I have been hanging out here on The Garage Journal keeping up on all my favorite threads though

My dad is doing so much better now! He is home and feeling good! he has lost the site in his left eye, has some short term memory loss and walks with a cane, but for the most part he is back to his old self, thanks for all the kind words and prayers...

It seems like it has been a long, cold and windy winter here in northeast Indiana! that seemed to slow me down on my barn projects a bit. The weather has turned though and spring is here! I got my first mowing in of the spring, I really enjoy going out and working in the yard and I have been working on a few new things in the barn and will post them up soon.

My nephew pulled this Monroe Shock absorber stool out of the dumpster where he works part time in a tire store, I thought it was a really cool piece of advertising and restored it...it came out looking like new

The wife finally traded off her Chevy Cruze for a new GMC Terrain, so far we love this vehicle. We decided to take the week off work and go on a little cruise down threw Kentucky and Tennessee, We went down threw the Cumberland Gap area along highway 25 E, I thought this was the best part of our trip, just beautiful mountain scenery. We spent some time with family in Morristown and Russellville Tennessee. It was nice to get away and recharge the batteries

On our trip south this week I picked up this new cabinet, it reminded me of a old vintage medicine cabinet and I liked the dark grey color too, so I spent some time yesterday putting it together and rearranging some items in DaBarn to go into the cabinet, I really love the look of this thing! I want to have a couple more glass shelves cut to go inside the cabinet to take advantage of the space, I will be using it mostly for small items

I picked up some vintage Flying A matchbooks on vacation to go into the new cabinet

The week before we left on vacation I had to climb a grain elevator to repair one of our back haul radios, while I was up there I took the time to snap a few photos, the first pick is the back haul radio that needed worked on...

This photo is some of the LTE radio equipment that we use to provide high speed bandwidth to our rural customers, the tall rectangle on the left is the antenna and the square box to the right is actually the radio itself.

The white Silverado down there is my company service truck...

It was a beautiful morning up there...no snow and the sun was shinning! Boy are we ready for spring around here

Thanks for the kind words! We use several local grain legs for our wireless access points, we always have to be vigilant of the mice and rats chewing on our cabling though

Thanks for the kind words about my dad! I still have yet to get started on making a cabinet for my drill bits, but when I do I want to add it to the side of my little hardware cabinet I made (things never move too fast in DaBarn)

The Harbor Freight stores are a pretty good place around here to get inexpensive tools and it is really a good deal when you add in their coupons, the closest one to me is about forty miles away so I don't get there too often.
They sell a lot of Pittsburgh brand of tools which are not too bad of a brand and they are guaranteed for life..
