Bears Fan,

Joe

Bears Fan,
Great job on the decimal equivalent chart!

Nice job!! I really like that!

BF, that's a lot of work but a perfect frame for the chart.

BF that frame is just awesome:bowdown::bowdown:

Love that frame!
I've got a similar chart in my collection, may need to borrow your idea. Love the look of the rivets.

Great work on that frame BF. [emoji106]

It has been a while since I have added anything to my thread, I have not been idle, I just haven't taking the time to post anything. I got the idea to redo my office at work! I want to repaint it gray and go with a vintage industrial/fifties look and make everything myself. First I started thinking about the desk and I ordered some i beam for the legs, I had to order it from my metal guy. So in the mean time I restored some small items I want to display in my office, I first started with restoring a stapler then restoring a tape dispenser.

I found a old paid stamp and address index and polished them up! I painted the yellow on the stamp.

Here is a shot of the the items all together, I'm working on a shelf for the office while I wait for the I beams so I can start on the desk. I also picked up three vintage office chairs to restore.

BF: if I ever make time to prep and paint instead of BLO I can tell you that I'm heading straight to yours and Don's threads to get some tips.

I own most of those items you just restored in a box somewhere and they certainly don't look anywhere near that nice.

WELL DONE!!

maybe you'll get some of our nice winter weather cause it's the middle of January and the next week looks like sunshine and 50 degrees which ain't bad for us.

cheers

Thanks for the compliment! I really enjoy doing these small projects

BF, I think you may be addicted to restorations!
Not that it's a bad thing!
Is the red stapler an Office Space reference?

I have no idea what your talking about :lol_hitti

Thanks for the visit and the complement! But you can't put me in the same category as Don, he is in a class all by himself, he takes it to the next level!
That's why I hang out in The Little Party Garage and Don hangs out in The Big Party Garage

Nice job on the shelf B.F.
I do like to use bondo on everything (it makes welds look so good)

I like smaller projects now days too but would never have thought of painting my stapler Good job buddy

We are getting a little winter this week too.

Nice resto and choice of colors. I have a couple of old staplers that would look good with similar treatment.
Great design on shelf bracket. I’ve been looking at brackets and the top screw hole is behind the angled support. Your design solves that and semi-hides the fasteners.

Wow BF, you did it again! You have a real knack of making mundane objects look great. I was wondering what you used to make the shelf rail welds look so smooth, then I saw Don's post mention bondo. So that is what makes those look so good? Great choice of colors too, looking forward to seeing the office all decked out and the desk you are planning to build. Thanks for posting

BF: don't sell yourself short cause while Don might be the master you are a right in his same class with all the attention to detail you've been doing.

maybe a picture of our sunny morning might warm you up a bit cause OMG it's the middle of January here and I bet it was close to 60 degrees here yesterday and sunny. Also my kids went skiing yesterday, but our snow is in the mountains that we have to drive to on purpose.

keep up the great work and hope your heaters and snow shovels are working good.

Thanks Guys!

I enjoy sharing and getting feed back on my projects and I really like all the positive comments  All the office's at work are really nice, but all of them are a bit cookie cutter, other then a few pictures and what not's no one has really made their office their own :headscrat so I decided to personalize my by making everything in it or restoring all the items I put in there.

I'm going to hang the decimal chart frame I made along with the shelf I just finished and all the office equipment I restored. I have started the desk and I will post some pics soon, I also have three chairs to work on and a few other items I will be restoring so stay tuned :pimpflash

My wife is a huge fan of the TV show The Walking Dead and I made her a Walking Dead weapon a while back, well I'm making her friend one now for her birthday which is February 4th, so I need to get it finished before I can get going on the desk!

All that is left is to get some primer and paint on this thing and they will be ready for the "Zombie apocalypse" :wtf:  :pimpflash: :willy_nil

I have been a little behind on posting anything new! I have been super busy with my day job and we had some unbelievably cold temperatures around here! one night we had a wind chill of a negative -44 so that always seems to slow me down a bit :wtf:

I did finish up The Walking Dead weapon and the stand I was working on for a friend of my wife's, good timing too because the season premier is tonight

I did get started on my office desk and I have some pictures to post of the progress

01-X3.jpg

02-X3.jpg

I started out by cutting a piece of 4" tall by 2 3/4" wide I-beam into to four 26" pieces and four base plates out of 1/2" steel for the pads on the bottom of the I-beams and I cut all the 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" angle iron for the project too.

03-X3.jpg

04-X3.jpg

I welded the pads on the bottom of the I-beams and the angle iron on the two sides of the desk. The angle iron on top was just sitting there to give me a idea on where the height of the finished desktop would be? I want to get some 1 1/2" walnut to use for the desktop.

05-X3.jpg

06-X3.jpg

07-X3.jpg

Next I made some templates out of some heavy poster board for all the gussets that I will be using on this project and then cut them out of 1/8" steel and bent the four gussets for the front of the desk and drilled all the 5/16" holes for the rivets in the gussets.

08-X3.jpg

I tack welded the gussets onto the angle and clamped them in place, for the front I will drill and bolt the gussets onto the sides to give me the ability to disassemble the desk for transport.

09-X3.jpg

10-X3.jpg

I welded the rivets and added the turnbuckles to the front side and now your up to date with where I'm at on it for now! I hope to spend some more time on it this afternoon!

"Nothing says vintage industrial more then a handful of rivets and a couple of big *** turnbuckles"
