I admire your Father's talent and your tribute to him

Seeing his work is reminding me to exercise patience and perseverance in my own projects. I appreciate the reminder to bring that spirit into my own shop.

Very true, I am glad I saw this post

Very interesting thread. Good art work, your old man did. It brought some things to my mind that I will never know for sure. My Dad was a conscientious objector, so they told him he was a medic and his job was taking care of wounded men. like bedpan holding and removal. and so forth. Well he never talked about his war experiences. ever. So I never got to hear that side of him. He didn't drink but he was a preacher and they're not supposed to drink.. Mac

Digging through some old photos today, I found this small pic of a stagecoach TV table that Dad made. Every piece including the wheels was hand fabricated.

Bumping this for artistic inspiration to others since reading the Dad thread. The first pic is a yard windmill dad built. The girl in the pic is my younger sister, who is 60 now. The next pic is dad with his mom during WW2. The third pic is of dad when he was in his happy place, his workshop.

Wow, you just never know what might be going on in that shed next door, it could be someone like your dad doing cool stuff like this. Thanks for sharing.

You are correct in that for sure. Every person I chat with for a few minutes I always ask what their hobbies are. I have met some very interesting people and made some good friends by breaking the ice like that.

After my Dad died, my youngest son showed some interest in his Grandad's things, so I gave it to him to keep in the family. He proudly kept it in his room as a teenager, and had fun watching the expression of his visiting friends when they saw it.

They may have had that expression from the other thing in the room:

You father was very talented. He had vision that I don't think anyone in my family even comes close to.

I too have this habit. Have to be careful how you word it these days. I asked a guy what he does for fun and he thought I was hitting on him. :wtf: So many younger people spend their time in front of one idiot box or another that the concept of hobbies baffles them.
