My Dad passed away in October 2024. Mom passed away in May 2025. I have been promoted to executor. I need to get pricing on Dad's tools. This post will be about his Snap-on tools and tool chests. Dad worked as an auto body man and a mechanic during my lifetime. retiring in the 80's from chemical induced nerve damage in his hands. Please see attached photo of his Snap-on tools, attached photo of his Snap-on tool chests, and list of tools with their part numbers. If possible, I need someone to price this out for me so I can sell them to a family member. I am still finding tools as we go through his shop and will post more items later. Any help in this endeavor will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Toby C

Sorry about your parents. Ebay closed sales will give you a good guide as to past values. Keep in mind the older SAE tools aren't generally as sought after as metric and the owner marks on some of those tools can detract from value. Is this for a court administration or are you just looking for a fair price? It might be easier to just agree on a price that works for you and the other family member. I'd probably ball park value for whats shown between $500 and $750 if I were buying the lot. You may be able to do better selling individually on ebay but would also have to pay the fees etc. Good luck.

Sorry for the loss of your parents. I'd be interested in seeing what auto body tools you may have. Where are you located?

The box in Indiana would go for $250-500 I'd imagine. Side box on its own is $50-100 then top and bottom combo I've gotten as low as $150 but the bottom box was in rough shape so I kept the top box and got $120 on the bottom at a yard sale on the last of 3 days.

Tools is all over though, sets or in demand ones have premium while random bits are pretty difficult to sell. For instance on sockets I've paid 50¢-$4 a socket but I never sold any individuals. Sets I built were fairly easy to move at $3-6 a socket depending on brand and size but I had to push them quite a bit on marketplace to get any interest and that interest was usually 1-3 hours away which meant additional sales usually for them to justify the gas behind the heavy discount on retail for almost like new with potential owners marks.

Also owners marks depreciates the value since people don't like Johnson, Michaels, or JD engraved on their toolbox display. The more pristine it is the better interest will be and the more it may bring in.
