Dairy Board for Ceiling?

In our attached garage I installed white Pro-Rib steel from Menards. 16' panels were a perfect fit. Heavy, a little awkward to install, not the easiest to cut at 11pm at night ... but once up looks very nice. Lots of compliments.

Now I have to put something on the ceiling of the new 1000sf race shop. I was thinking white Pro-Rib again, also considering white PVC soffit material.

Then my contractor suggested: dairy board. Evidently fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP). He said it comes in sheets that are typically glued to OSB or plywood. Said it also comes pre-glued to 4'x8' OSB (which I can't find online).

Anyone use this for ceiling material? I've also thinking about the first 4' of the walls being "dairy board" glued to OSB ... then probably slat-wall like the attached garage is done in.

I've seen it used in milk houses and dairy barns (of course). We also used it on a shower stall for one of my uncles. Its pretty nice for places that require washdown or are typically very humid. It doesn't have a great impact resistance though. If you plan on running into your walls with pointy or heavy objects it may not be the best choice. For a ceiling, it would probably be a nice choice. Light to put up, easy to clean, and white color to reflect light.

FRP is used a lot in commercial kitchens. I've never heard of it coming pre-glued. I've worked around it while it was being installed several times. Always seen them spreading the glue with a notched trowel. They nail the trim pieces up with a finish air gun, then slip the sheets into the trim, and roll the sheet against the wall to get good adhesion. I would think it may be really difficult to get it glued to the ceiling. I am also planing on using some of this on my walls. It can be had in different colors and textures, including smooth. Supermarkets use it alot too,...

I bought some awhile back for a ceilin' in the houseboat,...
found somethin' better for that, but have replaced a few panels in shower enclosures with a couple sheets of it,...
still got a few more,...
pebble finish on 1 side, smooth on the other,...

Some glues don't work so well in extreme temperature swings,...
BiL used the recommended glue in the shower at camp,...
Shattered the panels when they shrunk more than the wood they're glued too,...
New panels went on with silicone for more give,...

I've never heard of it coming pre-glued.

I'm told Menards has it pre-glued. Can't find it online at Menards, will be in their store late Monday afternoon.

It is also known as Kemlite. It is used in refrigerated semis and can be bought in longer lengths from trailer suppliers. I have seen it use in shops as stated on the bottom 4'. Also, used in car washes.

Thanks for pointing that out. But I couldn't find it. Primarily interested in FRP bonded to OSB or plywood.

Since you're in WI, try calling Badger Utility, they are a semi trailer supply and repair company. I believe there is one near Waukesha. They should have or can get it with or with out the plywood backing.

I just used pro rib on the ceiling as well and am happy with the result. Why are you looking to use something different for the ceiling?
