Daisy Chaining 4 foot T8 fixtures

I'm looking for a clean way to daisy chain multiple 2 lamp-4 foot T8 fixtures in a row, 40 foot long workshop. I'd like to minimize the number of holes in my ceiling so I was thinking of putting them end to end or leaving a space between them and running a ****** between them. I don't know the best way to do this, can anyone elaborate? I would drill one hole in my ceiling at the start of the run inside the fixture to run my wire and the rest would be hidden.

If I decide on a solid row:
Do I just **** them up and drill a hole on each end to run wire through?

If I decide to leave a space (1-2 foot?) between each one:
Do I just use a piece of metal conduit? Not sure if this would look nice or not.

I'm planning on getting the Maxlite LSS2XT8USE4803 or the DivaLight ST48232-LED fixtures. Attached is the layout I think I'll be using, just not sure whether to space them out or not.

I think someone on the light fixture thread said one of those fixtures actually connects on the ends.

Edit:

I have both the diva and maxlite fixtures. The diva is more of a traditional t8 fixture with ends that can be used to connect to each other by sliding into grooves. It also leaves the connection between fixtures wide open.

The maxlite fixture must be connected end to end with a ****** through a knockout, the end doesn't come off (riveted). It's also much smaller than the diva, probably closer to half the width.

At first I liked the diva better but went with maxlites instead and glad I did.

OK - I like the idea of a built-in way to connect the fixtures end to end. Can anyone confirm this or show a picture of what it looks like or how well it works? If you need to remove a fixture can you without taking the whole row down? (meaning, they slide together side-to-side and not up/down)

Talking about these. https://beeslighting.com/diva-light-led-ready-strip-light/p/ST48232-LED

I have rows of 5, 8 foot fixtures. Got them at one of the big box stores. The end cap is held in with two sheet metal screws. Remove the two screws and turn the end cap on it's side and it becomes the "connector" between the two fixtures. Yes you could remove one fixture from the middle of the row by removing the screws and connector from each end of the fixture. Hope this helps.

Most strips have a kit available for continuous row mounting. They are nice since it keeps the fixtures perfectly lined up and prevents them twisting.

Otherwise just use a chase ****** in the end KO's.
