I am new to this place. I have been looking around here for some time. I always wanted a lathe and I think I finally got a deal. I picked up this Dalton 7" with a box of tools for $400. I fix antique fans and sometimes I need bearings for the motors and I want to make my own. What gears can be used with it? Any info on this Dalton would be great.

You've got an excellent small lathe there. Here is some info on Daltons: http://www.lathes.co.uk/dalton/index.html. There is a member here who restored a Dalton lathe and would be helpful if he sees this thread. You have the data plate for the gears in your third photo. I don't have the spec. on Dalton gears but determine what you have and contact a place like Boston Gear. A full set would be one each of each tooth count shown. Possibly check with the person you bought the lathe from to make sure you've got all the tooling, attachments and gears. Often, especially in estate sales, the family will sell off stuff with no idea of what they've got and many parts go missing because they were in a box in a dark corner of the basement.

Thanks. He didn't have any more gears. I was wondering if it would be hard to get replacements, if they are something standard that I can get that would be great. Thanks
