Got another tool cart from Harbor Freight this time I got the red flavor. The first cart I got was dented in between the uprights in the back enough to make the mechanism for the drawers not to work so they could not be opened. When I got out of work I took it back to the store pick up the second one brought it to work same type of damage but the drawers could open. Both cardboard boxes did not have any damage to them so don't know if it was from shipping or damage from the factory.

I've purchased the 5 drawer cart and a 44" box in the past. If there's one thing I've learned about HF, it's that the workers are generally lazy, at least where I live. When I bought the 5 drawer cart I made them take it out of the box to check for damage because I wasn't taking this thing all the way home to have to return it if there was damage. Well low and behold there was damage, albeit very small and actually unnoticeable but I told him I didn't want a damaged cart. They told me I could have it for $100. SOLD!!! I took it home and straightened the tab and it is actually hidden by the uprights anyways. Same thing with the 44" box. Had them unpack it and there was small damage. They gave it to me for $300 because they didn't want to have to put it back on the trailer. SOLD!!! I don't know about you but having to go back three times would piss me off. I'd ask for a discount. Worse they can say is no.

Save your time and travel expense, open it at the store and find a good one.
Looks like they got a defective lot.

They are supposedly getting a new shipment today it's not too bad going to the store I have to pass it on my way home from work. They were going to knock $30 off the price of the first one I got when I call the store but I didn't know at the time the drawers would not open. So I just returned it.

I bought one a few months ago and had the same issue. One corner of the top was crushed enough that the lid was not functioning. The carton did show minor damage but as soon as I opened it I knew it had to go back. It was an inconvenience but no offer of compensation was made for the issue.

When I went to get a replacement I did open the carton to inspect it before leaving and the second one did not have any damage.

It's the Mongos who un/load it.

The guys at the HF next town over did a good job with my two boxes - no damage.

Inspect before you leave.
