I guess I could have added this into the long running HF tool box thread, but I figured I would start a new thread.

During the month long sale, I picked up 2 bottoms 2 tops, 4 side cabinets (2 short and 2 tall), 2 7 drawes. All had some minor imperfectons in the coating and some damage.

The bottoms seemed to be packed the best, one was decent, the lip at the bottom on the other is bent on the front. It also had some blisters in the powder coat on the side that flaked off. It was about the size of a dime with rust under. Both bottoms had almost no coating on the edges or lips at the top that the sides hook too.

On the tops, one had a lid that was warped. A few tweaks of the top and its ok. The other top was dented in the corner pretty good.

Both tall side cabinets had problems. The door is dented on one and the other is dented on top and the door seems to sit proud of the opening.

The 7 drawer units seem ok. I haven't opened the two drawer side units as of yet. I will be returning the top with the dented corner. not sure about the side cabinets, I could end up with a worse one. I know these aren't top quality and I am allowing for that. I once took a craftsman boxt back 4 times till I got an acceptable one.

I am still happy with the boxes for the cost, but I am curious what damages are you finding? and what are you deeming acceptable for a box of this quality without returning it? Would you return a bottom unit for a bent lip? of the hundreds of boxes sold to GJ members over the last month or two, how many have taken boxes back for damage?

I bought a bottom box and side drawer unit. Brought them both home in the crate they came in. They were perfect. The manager t my local HF claims it is rare to have one damaged beasue of the way they are packaged.

i'd return ANY box that was damaged. few years ago i bought a CM top box, when the dipstick brought it out to me , (after waiting for 30 minutes), it fell off the hand truck he was using. i asked him to get me another one, seems like that was the only one they had. i went and got the manager, told him that no way i was accepting that damaged box.

i ended up taking it after he marked it 50% off. didnt even have a sratch on it.

Mine has a dent and the front wheel is higher so the thing wobbles. Any ideas o how to fix the wheel? Bought it 45 minutes away so a return really isn't an option, especially after the store employees were such .

That's what I was thinking. but maybe the weight of the chest will eventually straighten it out? Its only like 2mm from the ground.

My bottom box was undamaged, even though the bottom of the pallet that was covering the wheels on the right side had been sheared off.

My only issue were those damn silica gel packets that got lodged in the wheels and promptly spilled their contents all over my garage.

both of my lower boxes and 7 drawer side box all were fine... do damage or anything.

When i went to buy my second box, it was damaged but we knew this before i paid for it, so they gave me a raincheck and ordered me another.

Bought the top bottom and 7 drawer side a few weeks ago, all absolutely perfect, the way they were packed you'd really have to have an idiot with the tow motor bang the heck out of it. Heck, I got the bottom out of the back of the pickup truck myself , and if it survived that... well , nuff said. funny note, I read everyone talking about the silica packs, and wouldn't ya figure even knowing about it I managed to have them break apart all over the floor too?

My wife got me a top and bottom box for Christmas. The packaging was "prodigious" to say the least. It took quite awhile just to unpack the boxes. But, both of mine were in perfect shape.

Ok i'll chime in, I bought 2 13 draw roller's 1 7 draw side box and 1 2 shelf side box and 1 locker. All were picked up over several days none was damaged. Every time I bought one at sears they were all dented and scratched... It's all in the packaging and the shipper...and the people handling the freight...

Bought two lower units. One had 3 deep scratches on the bottom drawer that could have only happened at the factory. Call Customer Service rather than returning the unit. It's going to take 10-12 weeks to get, but they are making me a new drawer and sending it to me. Guess I'll have an extra drawer.

I bought (2) 13 drawer and 1 side box and they were mint. I did scratch the one a little getting into my basement down the stairs with the HF appliance cart though but that was my fault.

I bought the main bottom box and it had a few scuffs in the powdercoat and the lower side lip was bent in a bit, otherwise fine. I hit it with a soft blow hammer a few times and it was perfectly straight. I bought a 7 drawer side box and it had a scuff on the front and the top lip that clips over the main box was dented in slightly. Fixed it without any issues. Bought a second side box and it was perfect.
