OK I find this site a few years ago while cruising the HAMB. I slip in to get some advice about the ele. service in my 32'x40'. Next thing you know Im buying new service panels, installing 4bulb 4' flo. fixtures. (CL score) new Heavy duty shelving from a closed home supply depot (like the ones you see at HD and Lowes) Then I quit my job as a Tech and bring my work tools home to my home shop. Now I HAVE to have a better storage solution, so I research that spend a few hundred $$ and now ALL my auto tools and my construction tools are organised, This place it horriable it just turns into one upmanship, I thought I was happy before but now, I have a lathe in my shop more $$$ spent on tooling for it. now ppl want me to fix things for them and make parts for them. My Hot Rod is getting worked on in a clean well lit organized shop. Like I said this place is the worst!!!!!! I'm not spending anywere near as much time as I used to just walking over and around things looking for things I lost. Thanks guys!!! Keith

Guess you were a shop addictive personality to begin with like the rest of us, at least your out of the closet. If your looking for a cure, sorry, but there are no 12 step programs here..besides, no one would attend, were all to busy feeding our affliction.

Oh he'll screw up eventually and post a picture of something using zip ties without the ends trimmed off and we'll jump him like we did the other guy. The "little ones" must learn!

Don't worry. Your organizational nirvana will pass and someday you will be up to your armpits in **** again. Then you will start the whole cycle over again

Wish my neighbour had taken my advice and come here....he just built a shop but didn't plan it out - now he's cursing the lighting (or lack thereof), the lack of storage, not cutting a fan hole......D'OH!

My shop is in NO way ready for pics yet, Im sure the ppl on here would kill me for the wiring but I did it to what suits my needs lights where I want them, switches were I need them and soon outlets EVERYWHERE. I had to spend a few days sweating in the summer sun digging the trench for the 100amp supply, Im still working on the ceiling (price of OSB is keeping that on hold) I just had 4 days of excavating with a 580K done around the shop (original owner only had about 1' of walk way on the 2 side dug into the hill) now the wife is thinking about adding a 40'x10' addition on. first 20' for her and the 2nd 20' for the sandblaster the 80gal compressor and the FREE coal/wood furnace my BIL gave me. That should clear up some space in the main shop. When I had the floor poured in the big shop my first instinct was to remove the room that was built into the shop. it is 12x30 approx but Im glad I left it. only regret was I let the guys doing the floor talk me out of putting in pull pots. They would have been nice.

on further thought I just may post up some pics just to get your perspective on what I started with and where I am at now. Keith
