We need to start a thread titled "Damn you Sakurama!" where we show off all the stuff that we bought because of Gregor.

OK, I'll do it. Tools and stuff that we purchased (or explored to the point of buying cheap copies there of)....because we were influenced by Gregor aka sakurama, just one of the group of elite influencers here on this forum.

I'll start off with cheap stuff, because that's all I have.

Oh man, I don't even know where I'd start. Gregor & I have been mutual enablers for years now.

OK, as a long time lurker on MCMMM, and subscribed to the Youtube channel, I'll play. My first thought is an easy one...it's right here:

Maybe this thread could work like this -

- Member posts a photo or written details/review showing his/her "Kid Tested, Gregor Approved" purchases

- Gregor quotes the photo/detail & adds an affiliate link for where to purchase

Of course if this is allowed.

I realize that this might require extra management/time for you Gregor, so I'm not sure if this make sense for you.
My thought is that since you are the advisor/salesman making the introduction to these fine products, you should get a cut.

In all I've enjoyed following Sakurama/Gregor for quite a while & want to see him continue to stay successful during these trying times for him & his family, & look forward to the "evolution".

Maybe not exclusively, but the MCMMM thread has definitely been a big inspiration for me to acquire quality woodworking tools.

Festool 125 ETS REQ (I think this is the cheapest Festool that comes in a Systainer, had to start somewhere :lol::lol: )

Makita SP6000J1 Tracksaw w/55" and 39" rails (couldn't stomach the extra $$ for the Festool on this one even though I really wanted to -- but the Makita is still an excellent saw).

Can I blame Gregor for getting me into fountain pens even if he didn't directly share one in his thread but they were discussed?

Sure you can, he's tough he can take it. :bounce: It just proves you read every word of his thread, it's a compliment really.

However, to help enable your affliction:

I gave my wife her vintage Parker 51 for Mother's Day. I got it cleaned up and refilled with new ink. She's really happy with it, but she said she doesn't want to go down the rabbit hole with me and doesn't want me going too far with it right now. I can concede that. We don't have room for me to store a lot of ink. So I'll buy myself a reasonably priced fountain pen and probably pick up a rollerball pen that I can use with a cartridge converter. But I did really like the way the Parker 51 wrote, so I will probably look for a more common Aeromatic model that I can get for a reasonable price.

So I guess I’ve been living under a rock as I had never seen the epic Sakurama thread. At 217 pages, I don’t know that I can catch up any year soon.

My La Spaziale Vivaldi S1 espresso machine and Versalab M3 grinder....
although I had them before the thread, it was reassuring to see the approval. Well...not exactly for the grinder.

Oh, great. Now I have to have at least one Super Promecha pencil. I haven't even found a good vintage drafting pen to go with my vintage K+E pointers yet...

BF, the fountain pen and mechanical pencil rabbit holes are long and deep. I'm a Parker fan but the occasional Sheaffer and Cross gets added as well. Then you get a couple of Calligraphy pens and a whole new side hole opens up. You'll also end up re-building pens that just need a new sac and a good cleaning. Rebuilt my 51 and a couple of Parker 21s just for fun.

One Pentel GraphGear1000 .3mm pencil turned into 10 when Gregor pointed out all the different hardness leads you can use. The lead collection then grows, especially when you already have .5mm and .7mm (the collection is embarrassingly large).

I heard Gregor whispering, go the distance....buy more Milwaulkee Fuel Tools......one of Home Despots Black Friday deals for $199...
Mark, my M12s are free range. If you let them run free they spawn and tools you didn't know you need start showing up. I keep them penned up most of the time.

I never thought I would be able to say that I made a pizza from scratch but here we are. On this one I must say thank you Sakurama because it was delicious! My wife declared that this was the best pizza she has had in the Midwest. And it only cost me a $13 cooking scale and some ingredients.

The pursuit of a better cup of coffee however has the potential to get expensive. Now I’m grinding coffee and have 3 different brewing methods!

I just found out today that I should get a better knife sharpener jig so there goes $800

The romantic hills of central Umbria, Italy,
Someday I'llpost my sharpening stone collection... :wtf:

I got so tired of replacing Mister Cough-ee machines every 4-6 months with all the bells and whistles and circles and arrows, so I broke down and got a Technivorm Moccamaster... wasn't cheap, but has it ever even hiccupped? No sirree Bob! It may be almost as basic as a Bunn (which was my first choice, but I didn't have the space for it), but it does one thing extremely well - makes coffee.

Oh, just wait until you go down the coffee bean hole and start roasting your own beans.

I got lucky. Found a friend of a friend in MI that opened his own specialty roasting shop and he's willing to mail fresh roasted coffee to me. Still not cheap, but better than investing in all the roasting equipment.

I bought a Cuisinart automated pour over brewer with the insulated carafe. I love it. All the flavor of pour over without the hassle.

Bob,

My wife has struggled with the fountain pen as a lefty, so I dodged a potential rabbit hole. But I did buy two other new fountain pens. And I've managed to convince my self to NOT buy anymore ink until my 6 current bottles are used up.

I have a couple mechanical pencils that I've had since college drafting class. I'm sure there are nicer ones on the market, but like a good hammer with a handle that has worn down to mold to your hand, I haven't felt the need to buy a new hammer, i mean pencil... yet. And just kidding about buying more hammers. I picked up 6 old ball peens that I'm starting to restore. I have a think for ball peen hammers. And I found a Japanese forged 5lb sledge head for $4!

Directly responsible for these speakers a ways back. I think he said they "punch above their weight". Totally satisfied as workshop speakers :3gears:
