Hi guys I live in Brandon Manitoba Canada. I want to put a painted finish on my garage floor. The problem I have is when it rains, or snow melts. The water runs down the driveway and into the garage (I have a single 9ft door on one end and a 16 ft door on the other) I am in the thinking process of putting a drain outside the door, but after that I would like to finish the floor. It is just bare concrete right now, and will see lots of snow/salt in the winter. Should I just clean it well and paint some concrete floor paint on or is there a more durable product for the harsh weather?

There are a lot of products better than your basic floor paint. In fact floor paint is probably one of your worst options.

A couple of weeks ago I visited a place just to see their floor coating system. The floors are subject to extreme temperatures , lots of moisture (we;re not talking "damp" they regularly high pressure steam clean), and literally tons of near constant pounding physical abuse.

If you have a few minutes check out what I saw there: link.

Not a bad product for Sunbelt areas..... Keep them away from cold weather environments.

I have been installing these for a couple of years and havent had a problem with the cold temps. Its a $100 investment that could be tried before having to dig a trench and drain which would cost 2-3k. Remember that every garage door has a rubber seal attached to it. This just forms a better seal. Rubber to rubber seals better than rubber to concrete, even in the cold.

How well do those seals hold up to heavy stuff (tool box, dollies, jacks, etc) getting rolled across them? How much of an obstacle do they represent when sweeping?

We really need something to limit the amount of rain water that gets into the garage, but not if it's going to be annoying.

Been thinking about this option:

Well first of all that goes on the bottom of the garage door therefore nothing would be rolled on it...
